from mechrist's link

Chicago, Illinois - The American Psychiatric Association (APA) has officially confirmed what many people thought all along: taking ‘selfies’ is a mental disorder.

The APA made this classification during its annual board of directors meeting in Chicago. The disorder is called selfitis, and is defined as the obsessive compulsive desire to take photos of one’s self and post them on social media as a way to make up for the lack of self-esteem and to fill a gap in intimacy.

APA said there are three levels of the disorder:

Borderline selfitis : taking photos of one’s self at least three times a day but not posting them on social media
Acute selfitis: taking photos of one’s self at least three times a day and posting each of the photos on social media
Chronic selfitis: Uncontrollable urge to take photos of one’s self round the clock and posting the photos on social media more than six times a day
According to the APA, while there is currently no cure for the disorder, temporary treatment is available through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The other good news is that CBT is covered under Obamacare.

That's pretty funny.

So if you average one a week that's cool?

Nice Dave!

Is it narcissistic if you take a selfie once every couple weeks, specifically for the purpose of posting to this thread?? Lol

I'm afraid the level I've achieved isn't anywhere near whatever that "next level" is. In fact, I've only taken one selfie ever. It's already posted to my Gertrude's Nose Hike "TR," but it's all I got so here it is again.

Big Mike. In your case, it is inspirational. Post away. Major milestones lighting your eyes.

a whole-hearted, i agree! you come a long way, big mike!!!
and the eyes are VERY happy...

also, say susan, i loved that bike shot too, looks like he is CARRYING it too, :))

:)

fun thread...

note:
however, i do not really think young kids, like my stepgrandkids (their folks gave them photophones etc), should do this...

i have seen the changes, as to a twist, in their characters, and finally (as i could not push caution to their family) their dad now sees it too...

hoping they can break them free of that loss in:
'am i good enough' and 'am i copying the latest celeb, good enough' WORLD...

as with any 'modern devices', one must learn self-control and how to be satisfied with oneself, first, or one losses track of
brain-function and falls into 'brain ruts' ... :(

edit:
awwww, so cute, timid! :)
