To add some clarity, the guys busted for conspiring to bomb the railway in Canada were arrested after a member of their mosque became frightened by their openly spoken militancy and reported them to the police.

Now, as for the behavior of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, This should blow your mind regardless of your political stripe. The talking head video is a basic window on current politics in Canada:

It didn't impress me , Jim. We are much more dysfunctional here in the USA.
But the story is bizzare.

I know a guy who was on a green card, and when he was 17-18 years old, he got hooked on drugs. The police cought him a couple of times, then he stole some beer and got a misdemeanor. At that point, he got into a program (AAA, or something) and stopped using. Got married, three kids, working hard. Ten years after he cleaned up, men in black showad up at his door, handcuffed him in front of his family and flew him from California to Eloy, AZ. He was facing deportation. He spent about three months in jail without the posibility of parole. If he were a bank robber, or even a murderer he could be out on bail, but because the drugs were involved, the law wouldn't allow it! His wife and three kids were three months without any income. He was eventualy released and given a secon chance.

Three observations here:

The war on drugs in the USA is absurd.
The law reacts too slow.
The private prison system is inhumane.

As for gang bangers here in CA have our police supply guns, ammo, food, no water, no cell phones and transported to one of the uninhabited island off our coast [not the one we use for missile firing and strange things]; put them on the island and then go back in 3 days and the ones that are left incarcerate.

Install cameras on that island and make it into the most popular reality TV show there ever was. Make lots of money to cover own budget, get rid of gang bangers. Winning. : )

yes, welfare

is there a point?

should we end all "welfare" to make sure that no future terrorist is not on it?

that way we won't feel indigent?

I for one think it odd that we let those in here claiming to be a refugee, and they get better benefits than those born here.. I find it repulsive to think my tax money went to the pockets of those that went out and bought nails and ball bearings to use against the very people that were helping them..

in the meantime,, "Dad" has decided NOT to come co-operate with the FBI, and "MUM" wonders if she will be arrested when coming here. And they are diggin in the local dump to find a laptop from these poor taken advantage of youths..

WHAAAAAAT? That is not normal, Ron. People that come here from other countries deserve a lot more benefits than those who worked their ass off paying taxes and living here all their life. (sarcasm)

I work in a day care center for seniors. For some reason people that are born/raised in US have to pay out of own pocket to attend centers like this one. Those who weren't get to attend for free. Does not make sense to me since those who were not raised here, did not pay taxes here. Would make more sense to have people who did pay taxes here all their life attending for free...at least to me it makes sense.

Moose, you're seeming extremely lucid.

If you don't mind my asking, when did you emigrate to the states? At what age?

Well,, please tell Moose that the majority of those deaths he talks of are suicides. Be thankful there are good tools to use, its way better than slowly bleeding out from slashing wrists i would imagine...

Apparently the feds have detained a couple of the bombers friends in Boston. Why do I find a bit of humor in their customized licence plate?

"Kadyrbayev's father, Murat Kadyrbayev, told Kazak news website Tengri News that Kadyrbayev and Tazhayakov were in Tsarnaev's social circle but nothing more. The father also said a "TERRORISTA #1" vanity plate on a BMW jointly owned by the two young men was just a joke."

Can you tell us what specific government program provides funds to immigrants, but not to US citizens?

Vitaliy: Prefect great idea

True Australia was created this way but this island is small and with so many of them they pretty much have a two square feet standing zone between them. Just enough to take a Dum% or #2. But no paper.

First you get the producer to bury all kinds of drugs on one side of the island: hide and bury beer and hard liquor: whiskey, tequila in another area; next would be the guns most likely on the other side, some easy to find but some harder to find and some with the pins taken out, some ammo 1 mm larger than the arms to match that they find so they would jam.

Have the weather predict when it is going to be a hot spell for a least ten day period, they might be lucky and get breezes coming off one side of the island. No trees just brushes, maybe a few rocks to get under to find shelter from the heat of the sun.

Put out buoys around the island with the sign saying; WARNING Area within these buoys have pens/cages that contains hundreds of sharks that automatically open when any movement within 50 yards. You have Hollywood make up 50 to 60 fake ones to make roam around the island making it look real.

The producer hands out each Banger a card [one side in English the other side in Spanish] with map of the island, trails, beach areas. Diagram and instructions showing how to get water from the sea to use with the rations that are dehydrated and for drinking. The ones in the photo do not need water for the food, if you want to make the electrolyte drinks or coffee then you will need a source of water. The chewing gum that these packs come in is pretty bad but helps in keeping moisture into the mouth.

Credit: lostinshanghai

To make it more exciting the producer tells them some of the rations might be booby trapped with explosives underneath if you try to touch them.

But Hollywood executives might argue they like the idea but since advertising is what we rely on for profits there would probably two, maybe three shows. Now if you get them to change their minds and make it a 24, 36 hours with ads going for five minutes then back to the island for 2 minutes or three showing what’s going on I think they will do it. Tons of money it.

Plus all the betting in Vegas: How many left, the timing when it is all over, who finds what first, who gets shot at the closest time the bets says.

State wins, Military not involved, cities save on less crime; police are happy and just go back to arresting young kids going for joy rides. The prisons guards: State since they are union and private sector will protest will be the big challenge. But there will be a 2014 show that will have more and exciting things added.

Good idea I like that. Just need a name for this reality show.

WTF????
I'm not even fearful of terrorists, I say it's all hype, overblown right wing knee jerk reactionary-ism
Like Moose said, there are 10,000 gun deaths a year, and no one cares about them. It's total hypocrisy based on fear.

I'm just pointing out the BS of the Muslim hating wack jobs

maybe you should take your self off the Internet, for lack of comprehension skills.

well there ya go again doc,, broad brushing "muslim" over radical islamists.

So ok,, let us go with that for just a moment?

How,, does a TRUE muslim assimilate into american culture be it work place or public? Their beliefs are NOTHING like advanced societys. Womans rights? The only right a woman has is to be beaten for anything and everything. Gay rights?? Yeeesh dont wanna go there. Taxes? they dont believe in that system. they are already suing over religious beliefs at the workplace, so they may pray openly when needed. So just how does our two cultures truly merge?

So anyhoo,, most of us here on the "other" side of the coin say radical islam, and you say Muslim. Just to keep the record straight here.

What horse sh#t.

I have known several people over the years who are Muslim and are completely assimilated with beliefs which are "as american as apple pie.". One whose father worked at NASA in a high level position. You seem to be referring to a sect of radicalized people, referring to stereotypes, and dumping every Muslim into that group! Absurd, and frankly, disgusting.

I wonder if you realize that in some conservative Jewish sects, here in the USA, a woman needs her husband's acceptance in order to become divorced? He can "be compelled" to accept, is she can present a case to the rabbi, but if he is just a standard everyday jerk, and doesn't care to be divorced? He can refuse, and the woman will not be able to be remarried in a traditional marriage.

And you have the audactity to use gay rights as support to your gibberish, when gay rights was (incredibly) an actual point of contention in THIS country during the recent presidential election. Where, in this country, you have supposed Christians carrying signs of protest that say "God hates Fags."
