Hey-where's my name? I know I've deleted at least 3 of my threads can't seem to remember what they were about, but I know one about 2 years ago was a pretty hot topic .

The deletion of an involved, popular thread, that many have spent time posting on, feels disappointing.

...sometimes it appears to be an exhibition of power.

I don't miss profane threads that vanish from sight... most stop clicking on them anyway.

Most of us post on wise-crack threads...but need those be frozen in time?

But some of the well received, celebrated threads should belong to the community...not the OP.

Yeah Skept, I deleted one when I wasted over a day trying to load photos and nobody helped me out.

Did the trick. A volunteer coach appeared. (thanx R)

Disagree. I think the current model works better than any alternative.

The size of a post shouldn't make any difference to the ones posting to them, but it might.

I can see someone deleting a short thread cuz he's embarrassed about it's relative length.

;;;;;;;;;;;;;

;;;;;;;;; my colons aren't that long, but I have my points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm totally OK with my thread deletions.

I said my piece, and people chimed in with racist comments.

As I've said before, I don't want my name attached to a thread with hateful words.

If you want to continue the discussion, feel free to resurrect the thread. I simply don't want to be the author of a thread in which people defend racism.

I don't necessarily find it blameworthy to delete a thread, particularly a commercial one (e.g. "Gear for Sale. . ."). It clears space on the front page more quickly.

I also don't find fault in Largo's action, because he said he would delete it in the thread itself. Also, by his timing of the deletion, I got in the last word. ;-)

I personally would have preferred that Largo's thread stay up, because I read it as a celebration of creative language, but I guess too many others, perhaps conditioned by speech codes, saw it as out-of-bounds. To me, the OP should have the discretion to delete a thread that degenerates into posts of unintended anger and hurtfulness.

Now, as for those multiple offenders, on the other hand. . .

John

Edit: I didn't see your comment, Brandon, before I posted, but I obviously find your deletion as one within your right.

TT, you are right. However, I feel strongly enough about the issue that I decided to let it stay.

I know, I'm being judgemental about what words of mine stay and which ones evaporate, but it's my choice. They are my words.

And Farouk, call me, you sexy beast. I miss your musk.

I've deleted a couple of threads I started or perhaps they faded far and fast into oblivion (the back pages). I really can't remember.

The reason being was one of two: no one found them interesting enough to post or someone else had started a thread concerning the same topic, prior to my effort. There was no need for a duplicate; so I deleted it.

What difference does it make? I've started to write many things that I've trashed.
