Posted this on another thread, it's 25 feet so there!!! (I only go halfway 'cause I like the 3 foot ones)
Don't know if that qualifies as a "crag" Picky people, I should have said climb.

I don't know the closest yet, but my first local adventure after moving to LA was Planet of the Apes Wall in Malibu Creek. Even on a Monday there were many parties, but we didn't have to wait for what we wanted. Awesome stuff! I'm going back to brave the crowds this weekend.

Reminds me of Reedley and Dinuba area...
Tim Schiller and I went bouldering off of Highway 180 north of Orange Cove, in that same general area, in 1977 or 1978, and spent quite a bit of time on short crack projects.
I saw a post on this forum a few years ago warning that the landowner is quite aggressive about trespassers. Not quite "trespassers will be shot. Survivors will be prosecuted," but pretty close, I'm told. I'm glad we didn't get caught!
My nearest real crag is probably Little Table Mountain, but it's also on private property with a landowner that no longer allows access. Too many drunken kids shooting at his cattle (is this related to a topic on another thread?)
Too bad, because it has a plethora of cracks, face climbing, bouldering and even aid problems. Then again, I can get to Tollhouse and Squarenail from my house quicker than I could ever get to Stoney Point when I lived in the Southland, so I shouldn't gripe.

haha... climbers really should learn trigonometry so they stop claiming 8' tall boulders are 25' tall.
I gots 30 problems within a 5 min walk from my front door. Another 30 a 10 min walk, and another 40 a 15 min walk. Any further and I take my bike... in which case there are hundreds. They are all 30' tall.

John, I'm bummed everytime I pass little table mountain, never got to climb there, but it looks awesome. Shuteye is my closest, 30 minutes. Tollhouse about an hour, Yosemite is an hour and twenty. Courtright is 1h 45m. What a terrible place to live:-)

Many poo-poo this crag due to it's "urbanity".
I never would have thought that I'd live a mere two miles from Castle Rock (Boulder Canyon).
Dave-"There's nothing to climb at Castle."
Topher-"There's nothing for YOU to climb at Castle!"
Plus I'm a bit of a history nut.

Well, there's this place called the Pie Shop just down the road... but it is utter choss and hardly worth the time it takes to hike up there. The best place to "do some laps" is Luther Rock... 10 min drive, 30 min hike.

Fairly spoiled here Several WI 4 pllars five minutes outside of town with a 5 minute walk, a fat WI3 and several other lesser flows with a 10 minute drive and 30 second approach, 500 sport routes from 5-30 minute drive. Devil's tower 1 hour needles hour and 15 minutes. Probably a couple thousand routes and at least a 1000 boulder problems in the area. Alpine big walls two hours away with only a 10 hour hike in. Come and get them. Spearfish has it all er I mean small.
