It's worth it just to watch the Pakistani group on page one again.

Thanks Dave!!

The album Time Out, with it's Picasso-like cover, was my first introduction to jazz. Take Five, one of the only musical memories I shared with my father. Thanks, Dave, for an amazing musical life.

Those of you who are familiar with Brubeck through his quartet recordings (like Take Five, Blue Rondo, etc) might want to go online and get a copy of a 2-CD release called "Music of America: Inventing Jazz - Dave Brubeck"

I think it's part of a series, although I'm not familiar with what other artists might be featured on other issues.

It is currently available used on amazon for as little as $3.99, and well worth it for a look at what a gifted and productive musician he was.

Very sad. A lot of his music was produced by Concord Music Group which was the company started by Ferretlegger's Dad (Carl Jefferson).
I loved his music.

Man RIP to the king of 5/4 timing - was lucky to see him play, about a decade ago, and it looked like the hardest thing he did all night was get up from his piano, shuffle to the mic, and say a warm thank you to the crowd. A genuine performer and great musician (even if his sax man was the one who wrote Take Five...)
