Looks perfect. I remember those trees being unique, are they called ghost trees?

Edit: I got the ghost right and they are trees. Snow ghosts.

I'd love to see the stats from today. Something tells me there MIGHT have been 500 skiers there. . . and that's one BIG SKI AREA!

Big Mountain - get it?

:-)

It's only a peesie bit smaller than Mammoth.

LOVE IT!

At least 80% of my runs today were SOLO - top to bottom! Like some kind of glorious dream about how it would be to SKI IN HEAVEN!

Nobody ANYWHERE around me.

And the views THROUGH Glacier National Park very well might have ended in South Dakota!

YAY. . .

I've prolly got 60 days on BigMtn and most of them have been beautiful . . . a couple, in my early Montana days, were hiddie because I didn't get the low light goggle thing. . . I mean, for me, goggles were for running gates at high altitude in the bright sunshine. . . it took a while to figure out that if you love snow ghosts you gotta love low light goggles.

HA!

BUT. . . yesterday was by far and away, the best "downhill" (read: free heel for me) day since I left said high altitude sun - and that includes everywhere else I've skied since Mammoth.

I need to get over toward Bozeman. . . I hear youz dadz have it pretty good!

:-)

GO!

Arrgh....long dry spell in California, don't like it. Thinking of loading up the car and heading up to Bozeman via Utah and Colorado ... such promise early season...

Another type of snow fun (although this was summer)...up on a glacier outside of Campbell River, BC (Mt Elkhorn? can't recall) picking up glacier ice for the proverbial "rich uncle's" martini

SIL scooping glacial ice for the evening's martinis.

OhDaddy. . . what a day! Stillwater Mountain Nordic Center was off the charts today!

What a bitchen place.

They allow you to take your doggies out on some of the trails and I got some SERIOUS DOG LOVE along the way.

Skied up to a killer little overlook where they have a darling park bench to hang out on. I kicked off the Fischers and sat there takin' in a kind of sweetness one only finds in the deep reaches of rural Montana.

It was sunny and snowing.

Silent.

My spirit was on wing as I glanced to the BigSky and watched a lone bald eagle riding the thermals.

Wow.

My co worker just gave me his old burton Kelly slopestyle 171. I think it's from either 93 or 94. I'm thinking about making it a split board.....am I gunna die?!?!?

First, that board is bordering on being a collectors item. And it looks like it's in great shape! Think twice.....

Second, I can't tell from the photo (and can't recall my history that well), but if it has the 3-hole pattern, it'll be a pain in the ass to split. Does it have inserts along the center of the board (where you'd cut it)? If so, that will create problems. It's not impossible, just challenging.

Awesome score briham!

i made the mistake of splitting a Burton and the 3 hole pattern was definitly an inconvenience but it still does the trick and is on its 3rd season.

Good call BCD. To be honest I'm a complete noob when it comes to splitboarding. It does have a 3 hole setup and it also has extra metal in the nose and on the tail. Hey kid does the three hole setup just mean more drilling, or are the holes in the line of the cut?

Briham! Don't split it!!! If u need a burton to split I'll trade u for that one in a heartbeat!
