High Healed?

I seem to recall putting up Junior and Buddy's version recently and I must admit I did not recall The Killer doing it, so.

Seriously, this video has some real good things to say about mountain boodts.
It is "arcane" knowledge, and some others might benefit by paying attn. as well.
This is all beta that a person might acquire as his level of competence increases,
picking it up by either experience or from various vicarious sources--

"
Another record from my childhood. I recall at one point in the early 1970's my mother just

picked up a bunch of records for me from somewhere out of the blue.

I imagine she was at a store record display and figured "hey I think I'll just pick out some records for the kids to listen to"...

I don't really know, but it was around 1971-72 and included a couple albums by the

Ventures, Highwaymen, Johnny Cash, and singles by Joe Simon (Moon Walk), Shannon

(Abergavenny), Smith (Baby It's You), Spanky & Our Gang (And She's Mine), Nitty Gritty Dirt

Band (Mr.Bojangles), Commader Cody (Hot Rod Lincoln), Foster Sylvers (Misdemeanor), James

Brown (Spinning Wheel) and Ray Charles (this one here).

The Ray Charles single I played to death; really great stuff.

As I got older and knew more about Ray Charles' music I found this record was somewhat

unique, as nothing else I had ever heard by him was like it.

I started to try and find out where it came from, and it's from a fairly obscure album called

"My Kind Of Jazz" in 1970. Not much more info about it than that...

I searched for years trying to find it (this was well before the abundance of the internet),

and finally in the 90's found a $25 CD reissue of it packaged with another album

"Genius + Soul".

I was stunned -

I truly was expecting to find more of the same as this single I grew up with all over that Lp, but

to my dismay it was loaded with jazz standards and "big band" style recordings -

which granted are perfectly fine, but are nothing compared to the groove on this single.

The only tracks that even come close in any way, are these two!

So it was a bummer to discover that, but makes this single all the more fun to listen to,

for me."

hey there say, mouse... wow, thank you for hiking advice... most likely, though, say, that is why i would not pursue a long hike, :)

i don't like my feet all stuck in those boots...
me and my twin buddies, have used old cowboy boots for years...
they of course, on their ranch... but me, just daily, around...

i like how my feet never hurts, and my feet never smell... the leather
breathes well and the air gets in...

sadly, though, the sidewalk ruined all the heels, and i can't get them fixed, so now... as good as they were, i have to get new ones...

say, i did fix my winter snow boots, though, :)
those steel shank ranger boots... they were a size too big, being guys boots, so the air circulates enough in side with the thinsulate liner...
they ARE heavy and clunky, but, gladly for me, as, i take care walking with them, not to clunk and thus, that care, keeps me from walking too fast on the ice/snow, and keeps me from slipping...

but wow, i can see what the guy means, as to his boot being a great hiker boot... strudy, etc...
good for them... but, best for me, not to do those huge hikes or dangerous ones...

we just hiked simple stuff, in the woods, etc, or old paths... the cowboy boots did great for that... :)

edit--this is NOT the brand name, that i got, but an example:
these are what i like... however, they'd SLIP FOR SURE on
certain slippery or steep or rocky trails...

Smallies like them are tough to shoot in foliage, huh?

Gypsy the watcher and photo-catcher of feathered friends knows this,
as do the folk frolickin' with glee on the Birds' own thread,
like Dee ee cummings, Bob Dee Yay, and the numerous others of the flock,
and which I have learnt.

I've come to prefer shots of wingy wonders on the wing.
It's more my thing.

Didn't Alfred Hitchcock cover this one?

Sorry Alfred, but the production values, while OK for 1963 just don't cut it in 2015. Only saving grace is that a beater station wagon (keyless-noless) saves the day.

To catch a bird on the wing my dear friends you need a long lens and a very fast shutter speed.

I have found that the moxsch I can get from my old beater lens, 75-300mm but closer to 400mm as it's an older one from the days of film, converted to a digital, but useful all the same. No sun shield. Newer one is not as long a range.

I've found that having no auto-focus (main problem is the gears seem to be stripped in the lens) is my biggest challenge. I waste way more shots from blurs than just botching the framing or not keeping it level.

I do a lot of cropping on some, and it's right, the longer lenses will eliminate that task, and relieve your stomach from too much gas und sturm und drang.

It's like hunting. You're smarter than the bird, but he's usually faster, so the high shutter speed helps nail the outline.

Where have you been, my darling young one?
I've been hiding behind several different pairs of dark glasses.
I've been wandering among deep-dark crevasses.
I've flashed to the top but come back like molasses.
I've been to Gettysburg and I've been to Manassas.
I've hailed old Caesar and got drunk with old Crassus.
I've gone on a trail trod only by asses.
I've slept in the car outside Calabasas.
And it's a hard soft dry rain that's now falling intermittently.
