PS: I LOVE the railroad track photo... love it. I have a thing for trains, ever since I was a kid. My father did HO scale model trains for YEARS. I loved his art work.

Here is a sunset photo from the other night... not so pretty, but I've been wanting to take photos of this structure, with the sun coming thru, and I happened to capture this while driving...

Dingus... I love this. Thank you for sharing your thoughtful words and experiences.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, my father was an HO scale model train hobbyist. Living in Roseville, CA for nearly 10 years, home of what was once the largest Train Yard (is it still?!?!) my father thought it would be a brilliant idea to teach me to drive in the train yard! Kind of a blast. His method for teaching me how to drive in reserve? Position our Ford 250 Diesel over the tracks and have me back up... forever... with the tracks "perfectly straight" under the truck. (Good method, I must say.)
Also, living in Roseville, I'm fairly certain I could have given my own guided tours of the California Railroad Museum as it was THE field trip spot in school. Good times.

I miss sailing so much! (so much) Hell, I miss water, period.
Kath! You kill me, in the best of ways! (I will be downloading Day of the Dead photos this weekend, I swear! You must see them.)
Enjoying Life this weekend = House-sitting on the far west side of Tucson with two of my favorite Min Pins, a fire pit, a spa, a very short drive to my boulder for sunsets, and a TV system I have no chance of understanding.

My dad loved trains too and one of my great but simple pleasures in life was to take him and my mom, with their grandkids, to play at the Sacramento train museum :-)
Been in there a dozen or more times myself. Bet I could give you a run for your tour guide money, Lisa Mae.

Train tracks. . . ski tracks. . . they're all the same. . . check these out. This is Stillwater Mountain Lodge down by Whitefish. It's a really nice Nordic Center that runs out from their beautiful lodge into the Stillwater State Park.
Get this. . . 2/3 of the kilometers that they groom are open for you to take your doggies!
AND. . . on special nights, they light part of the trail system with luminarias.
HOW AWESOME IS THAT!
Speechless, writing from the desert...
that's pretty soothing, serene, and beautiful...
It's raining here in Tucson now... and it's lovely. The smell of Creosote is amazing ... the sound of fat rain drops
tumbling down...
Perhaps in some ways, it's why I stay.

THAT is beautiful and so peaceful, Kath. Thank you.
The house I'm watching has 360 degree views of Tucson and the surrounding mountains. It was wonderful to watch the soft, airy, clouds of the morning slowly turn pink at sunrise. And as I drove from the West Side to the South Side for work, the smallest pocket of blue presented itself, making my already huge smile even bigger.
Not to mention some kickass songs played on our community station, KXCI, on my drive in... Lovely start to my work day... AND, I think I get off work by early, instead of late ...as I have 4 days this week.
Enjoy Life... and share your joy!
