Chiloe... nice photo... great greenery... where was this taken?

On the popular Höhenglücksteig klettersteig (via ferrata) in Bavaria, a delightful excursion with also a sad history.

Here's another view of our party enjoying life, earlier that same day.

Chiloe... thank you for the article... this stuck with me when reading it:

" Albert had a reputation for traveling to climbs using only human-powered transportation. In remote environments, he relied on travel by foot, kayak or sailboat, part of his lifelong aspiration toward a more self-sufficient form of climbing.

The international climbing community will long mourn the loss of Kurt Albert. He will be remembered as a strong climber, an innovative thinker, and a dedicated friend."
~RIP Mr. Albert

I am happy to see your party having a great time, and a safe one... thanks for sharing your time Enjoying Life!

Yes, Albert's story is striking for who he was, and then to lose all on such a casual outing. From a Rock and Ice profile written in 2011:
Last September, Albert, 56, was guiding a group of novices, friends from the same soccer team, on a via ferrata in the Frankenjura region north of his home town of Nuremberg at a place called Hohenglücksteig. It translates as: “the path where you feel glad to be high up.” Kurt had driven through the night back from a slideshow in Hamburg and was managing on an hour’s sleep. He was standing on a wide ledge, leaned back into his harness, perhaps to rest, perhaps for a clearer view of something, and then was gone. A carabiner was left on the safety wire, and the sling into his harness was empty.

Clearly, Albert knew how to enjoy life.

I guess that's kind of a sober interlude for the Enjoy Life thread, but somehow it all goes together.

Chiloe, while Albert's death is certainly a tragedy and tremendous loss, I agree with you that somehow it DOES all go together. He did know how to Enjoy Life, and lived it to the fullest until the end.

I was unaware of this remarkable man, and am happy you shared the area with me, as well as his legacy. Thank you so much.

I heard three shrill peeps as I dug out the sage from the drain today. Three furry infantile bunnies with eyes still closed, bare beneath the brazen burning 40C sun, exposed by and somehow spared the cleaver of my spade. I covered the trench with the spade perpendicular to the sun, dumped my lunch sack and wetted it, covering and cooling the three little beings. I saw the mother rabbit in rock shade as I cut juniper and piñon limbs to rebuild the warren. I wet the soil and boughs around them repeatedly in an effort to stave off the heat. Tomorrow we will see. Life is good and we do the best that we can.

A Cosmic sighting... yay!!! And Kath, I too wish you could make that your avatar... it's kind of perfect!

Sweet Lollie... thank you for the flowers, just because! That is so awesome of you! Life IS fun, eh?

NutAgain ~ "all trimmed up" ... You MUST be referring to Jefe... I hope! (I shaved my beard off years ago!)

:)

BraveCowboy ~ great photo of your hand in the large print... where was that taken??
And hey, good on you for helping the baby bunnies. How are they doing today?!

John M ~ Dude, that clip was awesome... TFPU!

WTF ~ I am glad you enjoy this thread. I LOVE seeing all the newest contributions... they always make me smile. PS: I think you need a bigger pool!

Clinker ~ I AM ready for the 4th of July... in the mountains!! It's tradition here in Tucson not to just watch the fireworks from A Mountain, but rather, to see WHEN the butte will catch on fire, which is always kind of sad, but always happens. Not sure WHY Tucson, which is dry as hell, insists on having firework shows. Baffles me.

:)

Kath ~ Baby turtles AND deer... sista, I want to live where you live!! Thanks for posting those fantastic photos! ~xx

Jefe LOVING the forecast for our holiday on The Lemmon!! Let's get the hell out of this heat after work today and start enjoying the cooler temps, ASAP! And of course, I will bring my new poles for the death march out of The Dog Park... thanks for the wonderful birthday present! You're the best.

:)

Have an enjoyable holiday, everyone, and please be safe out there!

TOTALLY BITCHEN POLES, Sista!

What a guy to buy you such a PERFECT gift!

He's a KEEPER!

Jefe was so funny when he presented them to me. First came the hat, which I was stoked about, and then, seemingly from behind his back, he pulled out the new trekking poles! TOTALLY stoked!! PERFECT gifts for me! We then proceeded to watch a small series of YouTube clips about trekking poles and the benefits of utilizing them correctly. TOTALLY reminded me of our telephone conversation, Kath, as you and I had discussed trekking poles just days before!

I look forward to our weekend(s) on top of the mountain.

Much love to you, sista! ~xo

Contrary to rumour, this is not Booker T., but rather Champion Dupree

It's good though (though it is longer than your run of the mill).
