My Grandfather had a large dairy in Modesto. As kids we used to spend every weekend at the farm. For cleaning the corrals Grandpa would use little Ford tractors like this,

For larger work Grandpa was always an Alis Chalmers man and used tractors like this,

He would teach us to drive them as young kids and pay us to do discing as we got older. Great way to grow up.

Alrighty, then. . . a fine specimen such as this:

Missing photo ID#307277

came with this place when we bought it. . . and it's been running like a champ for 11 years.

Well. . . it took the chop the other day. . . the blades won't turn anymore.

:-(

SOOOOOO. . . this magnificent beast has taken his place. . .

Back when I was racing moto-cross (riding Maico and Suzuki) we called Husqvarnas "HunkVarnas". . . but that was just wrong, since this puppy is a frikken PORSCHE compared to the MW.

DOOD.

LOVE IT!

Why, thank you, sir!

eKat I need to see a pic you you hucking a wheelie on your huck varna!

Funny you should say that. . . I was just out in the barn dealing with TheHunk and just about got air driving out onto the lawn.

DAMN. . . that sucker's pipey!

:-)

I had to move MonkeyWard out behind the shop. . . with the yard trailer. Blanchard seems to think he's going to be able to fix it when he gets here in September. He's gonna take the mowing deck off and we'll keep using it for all the heavy lifting around here.

Odd. . . when you own a forest, you look at heavy lifting a little differently than you did when you just lived in one!

:-)

BurrrrrrrpBurrrrrrrrp. . . . (did that sound like me revvin' it up?)

Seven months later; but I finally took some pics of my neighbor's restored John Deere tractors:

John Deere General Purpose 1929 year model 23 of these were built. The tricycle design was copied to compete with Farmall.

Some other toys of Mr. Livingston. All of these he restored himself. The Mack he uses to haul the tractors to shows and parades. This man is 74 years young tomorrow! He can drive the Mack like a Toyota Tacoma; if you have ever operated a Duplex transmission you would appreciate that fact.

My favorite:

I got to drive the Mack as soon as the paint dried. I wish I had a picture of when he hauled it in before the restoration, it came in on two trailers.

We used an old B Model for a pullout truck when logging; but it never looked like this one.

The old Ford is a work in progress. It has U.S. Army truck bed on it that is coming off for an original flatbed. The driver's seat is mounted on top of the gas tank. That is the way they did it in the 40's.

Shifting a duplex in an old B Model (this is a quad 20 speed vs duplex 10speed) but it's the same game. It's easier to shift without the clutch!

The Windolph is an old dozer built in Portland OR in the fifties. It is similar to the Struck Magnatracs which are still built. The Taylor was a American designed Chinese dozer which was the precursor of machines like the Nortrac and Montana. This machine was built about 1980.

The Chicago Pneumatic is an old air compressor with a flathead, abandoned in the upper Baron Basin near Harts Pass WA

2 Tractors For Sale
Located in Rescue
$4,400 takes both tractors.
Massey Ferguson 40 with loader and box scraper -Runs GREAT-
Massey Ferguson 3165 stuck in gear and needs battery (I have not tried to fix it). On this tractor it is PROBABLY an easy fix (half a day or less).

We purchased these tractors in April for more than I'm asking. We did not buy a piece of property we were looking at so we no longer need them. My experience using them is limited because of the short time of ownership/property. Both are diesel. I have not tried to start the 3165 -needs a battery-. The 40 is a runner, it fires right up and runs smooth. Really, they just need to start being used. They look a bit rough because they've been sitting.

I'd like them to be gone by the end of the weekend.
Thanks.
