Tip of the iceberg, Pete. Just imagine what goes on in a high profile case, where there's no actual evidence but enormous public pressure to put somebody away. Only thing to do is, round up the usual suspects, accuse them all, then get them to blame it on the same guy. He may not have done it, but its gets a 'bad guy' off the street and satisfies the public outcry.

Accidents in North American Mountaineering has the report on the rescue. It mentions supertopo.com as a source of information on the rescue.

I like the first line in their analysis:

"Space in Accidents does not permit a full description and analysis of this incident"

Top two threads on supertopo since I've been here, are this one, and Mark Hudon's live feed from Iron Hawk. And now an important message from the corporate motivation department:

I know this is perhaps a little off-topic, but I really need to know the answer to this vexing image: Cosmiccragsman the photo you post of Mr. Rohrer captioned 'Tom the mad bolter,' is the blond gal standing behind him his daughter, and if not how did you convince him to go out in drag and how come he appears decades younger? Photoshop?

Just really curious, and thank you.
