I only know Clark from the olden days when Mimi, Junior, Mike Davis, and a whole crew of us were living in the valley.

I never forgot him, he was such a calm guy and very friendly. I recognized him instantly from the photos.

I'm sorry that he is battling this. If somebody can forward this to him, let him know that I'm thinking of him. Maybe PM me his address.

Love the picture of Hair Lip, that climb gave one of my partners a compound fracture and a medivac, fortunately I was not there that day.

Met Clarke at the last Climbers Festival in Idyllwild, quite a character. Sending positive vibes to you Clark.

Clark, you were looking good in April. It was great chatting. Hope all is still good.

I thought I knew that face! Ran into Clark at the Idylwild Climber Association trail work project a few weeks back in one of those sh#t-talking sessions we climbers get into standing around. :-) He has quite the spirit about him and you'd never know the journey he'd been through.

All the best to you Clark!

We saw Clark today, and he is going through his third round of treatments.
He's doing well, but he could use our thoughts and prayers...
...not to mention some sort of funds to help out in gas and such for his trips to receive his treatments.

Godspeed Clark!

I think it would be a great idea to have a fundraiser for Clark? I'm sure he could use our support . Who is up for a spring time Joshua Tree fundraiser for Clark?

I'm already on this. I should have things all squared away tomorrow. The fundraising will be done on behalf of Friends Of Joshua Tree so that everyone knows that the money will indeed go to Clark.

He's currently staying in Wally Barker's trailer (thanks Wally) at the horse ranch here in Josh. My wife set him up with some forms he can use to get 14 cents/mile gas reimbursement from the American Cancer Society. It's not much, but I can assure it's better than nothing.

I'll be posting details on how to donate sometime tomorrow. Clark is in good hands here. He has a lot of friends who are looking out for him and helping him.

The parties are great and all, but the fundraising effort really needs to start now.

Give what you can folks, every penny counts!

Agreed on this point. He has been driving back and forth to Eisenhower hospital 3 and 4 times a week this last few weeks.

I tried to coax him into allowing a fundraiser to be made when I first learned about this recent round of chemo, but he was too...something! I also wasn't the right person to manage it, and was hoping for someone better equipped to get it rolling. I think the Friends of JT link is a smart move, to help with transparency, and we all know that Clark has surely been a friend TO Joshua Tree for many years!

Went climbing with him on Monday, while he still had stitches in his chest for the port insertion. He said the doc had told him to limit strenuous exercise, but true to his nature, Clark felt that leading Double Cross and Sexy Grandma ought not be all that strenuous for him.

He led both cleanly, quickly and in such style you'd have thought he'd been on those routes a hundred times already...oh,wait...he has- hahah. Nonetheless, who amongst us would have the tenacity and good spirits to take that attitude and actions in the same circumstances? Clark has the best attitude possible, and that is inspiring.

Anything will help. I have the info sent off to the board of directors of FOJT to post on their website. As soon as that goes live, I will post a thread to support the effort here and on other websites.

FOJT is an established group so there should be no problems with people getting up in arms over where the money is actually going. It goes to Clark.

I spoke with Clark yesterday while he was hanging out on the job site about all of this and he is fine and very appreciative of the effort. A friend of mine has already donated $150. Another friend of his came by with food, blankets, sheets, and a extra sleeping bag for his new digs.

What ever amount people choose to donate is great.

We are definitely looking out for him.

He deserves it!

Bump for The Man...

We all have a lot to learn from this guy. He shows us happiness and grace in the face of real challenges. Barbara and I were out visiting with him a few days ago, and like Happie says, he has a totally positive attitude.

About two weeks ago a fellow at the pit named Max and Clark and I went up and did Sail Away and some of those face climbs near there on Wailing Wall. It was a great day.

Strong vibes of goodness your way Clark, keep on climbing and may your essential kindness and karmic high standing translate to a positive outcome.

I will contribute to any fundraising effort for Clark's benefit.

Can't wait to get back down to that neck of the woods and get some more of that old fashioned salty dog's advice on love, life and climbing.

I've spoken with the folks at FOJT and they are on it. It will likely take the weekend to get things up and running, but as soon as it is ready, I'll post up.
