I'm calling a halt to the donations. There are a few things still coming in. He has enough gear now to get him going. I will contact the people who have sent gear and has not been received. I'll make sure it get's back to you on my dime for shipping.

The last gear received and distributed was from Louie Anderson.

howdy folks....and yes i did get a few things back....a very weird interaction that was...lots of holes in the guys story and very strange...well some back and with the help from all (thanks so much) i am able to still work....still missing alot of stuff but oh well i'm still rollin with my chin up
as to any donations that have ended up seconds....i'm gonna pay it forward of course....i know a few beginning guides that would appreciate the gifts that i cant use

Well, I do not have details, but I can recount the following story that happened to me. Sorry, but a little long winded:

After our house was robbed, several years after, Tucker and I were wiring a house in 29 palms. This one chap who was on the job site had been going on about how he was a recovered meth addict. Turns out he was facing 15+ years in prison for a number of charges including theft/burglary. We have something here in San Bernardino called Drug Court. Basically you get one last chance to clean up and walk on the straight and narrow. So he's telling me how courageous he is for cleaning up his act and that he only has a few months left and all the charges are dropped.

I told him my general thoughts on theft etc and he responded he understood why I have the attitude I did.

Of the many things we lost in the robbery, my Grandfathers 80 year old Transit was stolen. A real heart breaker. Gorgeous instrument. All brass, Leitz optics, beautiful wooden case, gone. I told him about it and he commented, "I SAW THAT AT A FRIENDS HOUSE A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO!". When I asked if he could make an effort to get it back he gave me the old sure, sure, no problems.

What a surprise I never saw him again.

The point of this story is that you never know who you will run into out here that may be connected with the shitheads.

No, the simple reality is that I'm the f*#king retard for ever getting involved with this and trying to help someone who clearly doesn't care about his own self preservation.

Getting burned like that sucks. Makes you feel like a fool, and there's undoubtedly some person out there who really needs the help that might not get it because you've been burned in the past.

Just remember...this is a reflection on them, not you. Perhaps being a bit more scrutinizing in who you invest your time in may be in order, but try not to become so jaded that everyone becomes suspect. That's just not good for your psyche.

I heard about this about a month and a half ago from the person in question - funny, they said that they left their pack outside Coyote Corner for just a minute while they ran inside and when they came back out, the pack was gone. Your version of the story is significantly different which makes me question which version is actually correct (no offense to you, Dave).
