Here's another good look, tube socks, cut-off jeans and running shoes - 1978 Three Finger Jack - Oregon

And did someone mention painter paints, tube socks and EB's? This is looking straight up, he is horizontal on top rope with his Whillan's "nutbuster" on.

Although tube socks were just about the only kind of athletic socks you could buy in late 70's & early 80's I always looked for alternatives; not to be different but my legs were so skinny they wouldn't stay up.

Looking at these photos of tube socks brings something else to mind. When the vast majority of baseball players were wearing pants with stirrups and tube socks one guy was different and Chris Berman of ESPN tagged him George "Pants" Hendricks...

Tubes were the schizz.
As previously mentioned...
Knicker socks must''a been their precursor.

I still wear socks (and get heckled by the young sport climbers with hooked shoes).
But I long ago gave up the tubes for super thin silk socks.

Kurt, here is another shot of your on sight FA attempt bud. Had you gone out one more time you would have done it. So much open stone that year....you were probably busy with five or six other projects.
