What choices does one have?......
1) Tube sock (I wear them everyday)
2) girl socks (those ones that don't cover the ankle.....not for me..)
3) Black dress socks (at the crags?....please..)
4) Wool socks (This is California....not Wales...)
5) other....

It's the tube sock..all day;...everyday....(Now the thong I save for special occasions...)...

You were always a bit fashion forward, Kurt, but I think Collins has you beat by a few years!

Isn't there a photo of you on the Snowbird wall with tube socks?

You could think of painter pants as really really long tube socks.

First solo ascent of Goldy Locks at Donner Summit. This must have been the summer of 77.

They look a lot like leg warmers to me! :-)

Edit: I admit to having had bright red (and bright blue) wool knicker socks, for use with the de rigeuer alpine/backcountry skiing wool knickers.

They were actually thin cotton knicker socks. I could pull them up over my knees!
