Stoney today after class for a new acnhor on the Turlock. Last one went bad cause it was raingin when I was trying to drill i think the granite got too wet or something

good physics question. could a curly rope cause a twist that might jump the shuts?
(not directed at anyone in particular) regardless, not a great idea to TR thru shuts directly. I tend to use a clove hitch sling to connect to the shuts to set an anchor. Very low chance of a clove hitch loosening enough to slip off, but really shuts are horseshit in general. Mussy's are convenient, but usually I won't TR thru them. Btw, where the hell is Weld-it?

Munge, it can happen in practice, according to 3rd/4th-hand account from way back (early '90s?) at Owens. A climber was just reaching the shuts when the twisting rope popped out of both. Stayed calm, passed the rope back through, lowered.
