I believe that "Deport Jonny" is also known as "Johnny Go Home". Either way the reference is directed at that Brit Woodward. Personally, I prefer the Deport Jonny name. Following is a picture of the problem (just left of the tree). I think it's just across the road and slightly downhill from some bolted faces and an OW called Big Grunt? Eppy's B-day would be on the other side of the boulder.

Maybe the locals can set the record straight on what the problem is currently called?

BTW - How often does the Woodward problem on the left arete of the TV Screen get done?

I kinda like Deport Jonny, don't think they can deport him anymore, would be good to get him out for the event, think I'll give 'im a call, he might want some warm weather by March.

yeah todd, i'm kinda worried about getting spent on that hike up. used to pretty much run to the top nonstop and then fire off problems on the way down, but i'm woefully out of shape right now.

BTW - How often does the Woodward problem on the left arete of the TV Screen get done?

pretty much never, darrel. i've never seen chalk on it, ever. i think most folks don't even know it's there.

I never knew Deport Jonny existed...imagine that. I still share the story of Woodward estabisjing the Woodward Arete on the TV Screen boulder. I've never seen chalk on it nor seen anyone try it since 1981 when I started climbing. It looks impossible to start.

Woodson bump!
I went out to Woodson last Thursday with Brad (aka Gobi) and today with Nick (aka gonzo chemist). Perfect weather was to be had on both days and there was no better time to get honed on some of the finest cracks in the area. We climbed classics Crucible, Jaws, Bat crack, Razor's edge among others and vow to return to complete Seminar wall and Right Long's crack.

A quick note - Woodward spells his first name Jonny. No 'h' in it. Brits - always gotta be different.

Edit: Swole is fitting. I have a suspicion that all this talk of being out of shape and the likes is just people getting a head start on jockying their sandbags into position.

s.d., Nick, Brad...hope you are out spreading the word on this shindig to all the younger generation too! As much as us "back in the day" guys want it to be about us, it's really not, but it's about you, our kids really, and watching the X-Gen take what we established to the next level. I haven't revealed my full vision for this gig yet but maybe now is the time since I've seen your motivating photos and realize now who I am talking to.

Hey Nick...looks like you're standing on the "Captains Chair" on The Cave problem. Eliminate that from the route completely and you'll have a more sustained and flowing line without taking the rest!
