hey there say, steve... thanks for the bump.... there is so many stories in these guys lives (meaning all the climbers, too, as well as these), that turned-out as if the "molding" to help make them the men that they are today....

in a sense, we only see the tip of the ol' ice berg...

many an experience, makes the man...

glad they were still around, to be them...

"Rawhide" was probably Rawhide Papritz. Last time I saw him he was teaching at Green River Community College in Washington. He asked me to do a slide show for his students. I think he's still there - he's on the web. Good guy.

Great story Joe. Felt like I got to watch some of the fun. I met and hung out with Krag Unsoeld the other day, son of Willi.

The hubby just bought me a lovely Royal Robbins wool sweater for our anniversary today, so I'm tickled to be reading about your adventures...once again! ")

Now, that trip with Boche...did that involve burning tires???

Frank Hoover spun me a tale about a rather infamous rafting trip that had me in absolute stitches... :D

Hope all is well and loved your post over on the Dolt thread!

Have a healthy chuckle going here, Guido..... !

Are you certain of the year? God, that explains so much - year of my birth... lol

And yes, mom and dad tend to mark the start of the river part of life as the Green River trip that your adventure was a catalyst to ;)

I'll also share this with Jack, he will get a kick out of it.

Was this the first and last traverse of the Snake in a Canadian, especially
with three yahoos in it? And I thought I was cavalier about water.
