The US, in general, frowns on humility. A sad social attribute.

That global sea ice extent is declining.

I gave specific data points, covering more data, rather then your vague 'observation'.

I said that the highs for those years are higher then the 2013 high.

Yes, Sketch, you can tell the decline by noting the long successive stretch of years at the beginning that are higher than the 2013 high, and the gaps in years that are not higher than the 2013 high towards the end.

Do you want to see the 'propaganda' graph?

We humans created the problem, we can solve/mitigate the problem too.

You mean minds that understand the science, and know how trend lines are calculated.

Chief, scientists developed liposuction for men like you who have breasts. Maybe you should try it? Unless of course you like jiggling.

...learning how to do science is just like learning how to fix your own motorcycle...

True, that.

The simplicity of a motorcycle is part of the charm. You can stare at the beast and work out exactly how and where the gasoline gets mixed up with air, compressed, then forced into controlled explosions that drives the pistons that in turn drives the chain that turns the wheels.

Everything is supremely efficient and invitingly accessible.

The same curiosity that drives an understanding of how it all works--and learning how changing/adjusting any one thing might make the motorcycle go faster is just the same as the curiosity and methodology that drives scientists to keep plugging away, trying this, trying that, making their models better, bit by bit, year by year.

That is three years straight that temps have surpassed the previous record of -128.6.

But then that is all just weather....

true, chief

just like individual heat records set over much of the world are just local weather

but that is not the point here, right?

this thread is not about weather, or motorcycles, it is about climate change

our earth IS getting warmer over the past decades, no one disputes that fact

how much weight or attention should be given to that fact is where there is disagreement

There should be no controlled explosions in a combustion chamber - there are controlled burns.

Axtell - developed modern air flow technology.

He also knew more about chassis than any chassis man I've ever know.

I saw almost ever major racer of the 60's & 70's come though is shop & those of us that built fast powerful motors learned more from Ax than everyone else put together.

It was warming Norton. From the mid 70's to approx. 1999, and as a result of a peak of solar activity as high as any in the last 6000 years coupled with positive phases of the PDO and AMO, Sea surfaces and Land surfaces, almost over the entire globe, warmed nearly as high as the Medieval Warm period. That climate is over, global average Sea and land surfaces have been flat to cooling since then. We are in a phase transition to a much cooler globe. The drivers are low Solar activity coupled with negative phase of the PDO and a weakening of the positive phase of the AMO. CO2 acts only as a feedback, increasing as temps rise decreasing as they fall. Human contribution to atmospheric CO2 is only 3%, the total ppm is only 400 ppm. In earlier epochs, under solar output similar to today's CO2 has risen as high as 8000 ppm without a runaway greenhouse effect. 400 ppm is still a trace amount, it's effect as a feedback feeble compared to the changes in the climate drivers we will witness over the next century.
