If you are happy practicing with the sky,
Clouds are the sky’s magical creations.
Be the sky itself.

If you are happy practicing with the sun and moon,
Planets and stars are their magical creations.
Be the sun and moon.

If you are happy practicing with the mountain,
Grass and trees are the mountain’s magical creations.
Be the mountain itself.

If you are happy practicing with the ocean,
Waves are the ocean’s magical creations.
Be the ocean itself.

If you are happy practicing with mind,
Thoughts are the mind’s magical creations.
Be mind itself.

Days when you get to listen to your son explain things in his own language of coos and a squeals. He is a BIG crazy, awesome miracle. :)

I certainly enjoyed life last week when I hiked up the Grand Teton via the upper Exum Ridge-sans rope car to car in 12 hours. Not a record but I'm 66 and straight from Boston. It was one of my best days in the mountains.

After that, my wife and I joined Jim and Angela Donini and 3 other couples for a week in the Wind Rivers. Great trip!!

Tiki-jer - GREAT times. :)

DMT - A California native, I learned to ski at Sugarbowl. I remember growing up with Yosemite and Tahoe as my playgrounds and backyards. Still gets me giddy like a little girl, even (esp) at the age of 40! (PS... let me know how the first day of school went for your beautiful girl)

Anastasia ... Best miracle, EVER. As a mother, I too feel so blessed. :)

Steve A ... GO BIG!!!!

Leggs, that summit shot is so cool! I imagined myself there this morning. The ominous clouds are incredible.

Good thread and definitely NOT OT. :)

Thanks, Jody!! This has been quite a year, with very special, loyal friends to share the highlights, and esp the low lights.

Damn you, Man!! :)

I intended to fly out Labor Day, but decided later in September for another return would be better ... less people... warmer water.

And to get our day started off right, here is a fantastic sunset from the desert...

Last night, the sunset and surrounding storms were AMAZING to watch roll in ... my friend thought we'd get hit by lightening. (I know Gatespass like the back of my hand... no worries!!)

DMT, when I worked at Sugar Bowl, we would do those "Lake Runs" from the top of Donner Peak all the time. One day I decided going left down the face of donner peak would be a fun idea... scared myself silly and ended up dropping a 40 footer before traversing back right to the ridge. Good Times!

The sunsets are the best... Gatespass is one of my favorite places in Tucson. So happy I discovered it with climbing friends so long ago.

I watched the storm earlier
allowing flip flops
and toes to get wet
as I sat on my porch
watching the sun set
reflected in the sky
to the East

I sit quietly now
candle or two lit
listening to thunder
crawl around town
watching lightning flash
outside my living room window
which appropriately
faces West
