I think Steve freed it at 50ish, and one or more Huber has done so in their 40's, I think (guessing on age). Heinz was probably in his 40's when he did Freerider, and Platinum Rob would have been around 40 on the Pre-Muir.
Mark, maybe I'll get you for Secret Santa. It's still sitting out waiting for me to go to the post office and remember it at the same time.

Well JLP,
Has Englekirk freed an EC route? He'd be a candidate for oldest to free it. Probably gotta be StevePoopi at this point, but wasn't that on the one with the A0 rappell point (El Nino maybe?) not all free if you're a hard liner on them things.

Well, Max and I are going to be celebrating the 40th anniversary of our first climb together, The Nose, in 2016. He'll be 58 and I'll be 60.
Route TBA.

Mark, maybe you should train up Paul, and do a route with him. There must be 30+ years between you, maybe enough for a record.

None of this age stuff or spreads make any sense at all pertaining to climbing competence.
Yet it's used all the time.
Seems totally weird to me.
It's what you know and can do in the present moment that counts ......

Werner, yes, it's relevance to competence is non-existant, but it's more fun to talk about this than politics!
MH, she keeps saying she wants to climb the Nose with me. She's 15 now. It would be wild to do it with her.

What about Fred Beckey? Did he do any climbing on El Cap? He certainly climbed a lot in the Sierra Nevada.

Clint's page suggests Shipoopi did Freerider in 2005. So, about 45 yrs old is the oldest free ascent?

Probably not a record, but who was it that climbed El Cap with his son when he was in his sixties?
I wanna say Tom Higgins, but I may be wrong. I think I read about it in a magazine, but I may be wrong .

Sorry if I missed this up-thread, but I wonder about the youngest combined age? But they had to have swung leads. For starters, I'm putting out Luke and Werner back in '70 or '71?.
