Actually there may be a sea change when it comes to spirits.

They're now arresting people in bars in Texas even when they are not driving and have rooms in the same building.

No kidding!
TEXAS of all places.

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply Non-climber, as I know your story. Just trying to run with Mac's appeal for more stories, and was doing the "scope in the meadow" series.
I sent you an email with a pic of me, but I assume that won't help ya much, all us rockmonkeys tend to look alike...
As for the marriage thing, that five minutes of standing there looking silly only matters to the IRS and the catholic church, two entities I don't take too seriously either. Damn, you've got that kind of happiness without it? What did I spend all that money for...

You're mmmmm.......

You're mmmmm......?!

[Sorry, that word is not part of my vocabulary]

Are you?

And I laughed my ass off at the notorious Solar-Powered Shower and Telescope Incident! Yup, I'm not just climbing a wall, I'm living up there. All you need for a very nice shower is three litres of water, and about four hours of direct sunlight on your shower.

Oh yeah, and a rock ledge to stand on, otherwise you get your portaledge kinda wet and soapy.

Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!! "A nurse with a purse!" Is she the [I think] blonde you were on the bottom of [I think] Aquarian Wall with? Liz? [Sorry dude, I suffer from CRS]

Yup, Liz it is.

My gear shed was totally looted, so unless I win the Lotto, my bigwall days are over. All I have left is a pair of Huecos, a 60m stratos, and an alpine rack that was in my truck during the great rip off. An A5 hammer that was in my tool box is all that remains of a once mighty bigwall arsenal.

PTPP,
tell me you were near the top with a surplus of water please.
I just can't see hauling 7 pounds of water for a schvitz. Oh sure I'll wet down a bandana and wipe up, but what's next? One of those nonslip mats and a rubber ducky?

Believe it or not, Ron, I actually brought extra water for the shower! An extra seven or eight pounds is no biggie - it was, after all, a holiday.

Christian - she's a sweetie [and a hottie]. Tell Liz I say hi, and ask her if she remembers my epic flail on Sacherer Cracker. [I had just come down off the wall having soloed an A4, and thought I'd give that free climb a try. However just because you can solo A4 doesn't mean you can free climb 5.10. Hell, it doesn't mean you can free climb at all! The worst part was she had two girlfriends with her to watch me. Arg. That was sooooooooo not fun]

That's one reason I remain in Free Climbing Retirement.

That sucks about your gear, dude. I'll buy your hammer, though. Where are you living out east? Anywhere near here? And what happened to that SUPERB wine cellar of yours back in Napa? Damn, you had some fine bottles in that!

PTPP,
so what's an A5 hammer going for these days. My head doesn't even shake but I hafta wonder about the handle strength after so long (although the coonyard handles seem to age better).

Shower water! What decadence! No wonder this country is going to the dogs.
No wait.
You're north of the 49th. We may have a light at the end of the tunnel. Even Werner will give us THAT much.

Anyone know Evan (Lobby Porter at Ahwahnee). He has probably the coolest employee pad in all Yosemite. He's in Curry, the one with the multiple thousand dollar wind chimes outside his place. One of the best "non-climbing characters" in Yos. Cheers, AK!

I hate that wind chime! It used to keep me up when I stayed at Spaz's place right next door.
I am having a bit of a hard time letting go of the hammer. I have a spare head though, but the 'biner hole needs to be drilled out.
Sold the pad in Napa 3 years ago. Lived in southern Oregon for a while, but the destitute poverty of the area made that not work out. I'm in southern New Hampshire now.
Check out the new Argentinian wines, GREAT value, especially one called Marcus James.

The employee digs for the Ansel Adams gallery is even better than Evan's place.

OK! Marcus James is on my pickup list en route to Kentucky caving this weekend.

Ron, just to further confuse you - I'm a Hoser who lives in Canada at 42 degrees latitude, and I have a US Passport. Figure that one out. I'm aaaaaalllll about being decadent on the wall.

[Now I'm sounding like a Californian. I'm all about being all about stuff. It's all good....]
Ouch!

I lived in Kentucky for a time. Watch out for the rabid cave bats. You will know you've been bitten if you start acting like Ramjet.
