Looking forward to this;.....Joshua Tree needs some new material, new ideas, new thoughts, and a new way to look at the place;.......people are still talking about climbs that are 30-50 years old.......time to open some doors, unlock Pandora's box, spread out and get busy.....Bravo to Randy Vogel, K. Daniels, and all who worked on this awesome guide which will be another "Bible" for Joshua Tree climbers. Bottom line;...with 500 classics to tick off;.....best do them all.......early March will give you plenty of time to start tickin' off the ones you haven't done.....(and while you are at it....work on your 1000 climbs for local status to boot.......)...get busy....

Todd, when I get an extra copy (early March), your house is the first place I'll be dropping one off. Thanks for your MANY contributions.

There will be some newer routes to chomp on, and some previously unpublished Classics (such as your great routes Bish and Lubricated Goat).

Great work Randy and looks to be an amazing guide.. Ill be ordering for sure. Sad its not released yet for my trip this weekend.

I know it may sound nuts but an electronic version and specifially an Ipad or AndroidPAD compatible/PDF type version would be amazing. A lot easier to fit an Ipad in a gear bag then 500+ pages..

All that money on lightweight gear and I carry 3 books totaling more then 10lbs.. haha

Good work, Randy! Looking forward to getting a copy, and using it.

Which volume of the series will cover the several histories of Figures on a Landscape, in all their detail? Should be good for 50 pages at least. :-)

Nice that you'll have modern and action photos, too.

Randy - Hope you don't mind my lifting the image of your cover. I've included it on my Virgin's Guide to Joshua Tree Climbing, with a mention the book is expected in March.

Thats awesome Randy. I have all your other guides, but its nice to have one of just classics. The book will be out just in time for our trip at the end of March. Will I be able to pick one up at Nomad Ventures by then?

Looking for ward to the comprehensive central and east too. Keep up the great work.

Will do Eric,
The plan is to be in Ryan from March 27 to April 3. Your welcome to stay with us if you don't mind hanging out with a bunch of old timers. Hey maybe you and Ian can be our rope guns!

Looking forward to seeing you guys down there.

Almost 80 pages of the guide are devoted entirely to the 185 Classic Boulder problems covered. Here is a tiny sample.

The hottie on the cover's last name is not Dahl . . . I believe it is Dial. Please correct me of I am wrong.

Always thought it was Nicky Dyal. She came into the climbing shop, probably around the time she was shot on that photo (and another cool shot of her on Headstone in a patagonia catalog). Signed our Calander and everything! REALLY cool person, with some bad ass traditional climbing acumen (she cut her teeth in the gunks of all places, I believe she still lives there).

And yes, she is far too pretty to climb in an area full of crusty newbs like Joshua tree but we let her anyway :)

Got a chance to peruse the guide this weekend. Lavish information, hilarious anecdotes, stunning color shots; this thing is nice enough to be a coffee table book. This is gonna be the guide for the new local climber as well as the visitor. Props to Randy for a fantastic job!
