Talking with Amyjo on the phone the other day made me think of Millis.
Waking up early a bit ago, I forget what prompted me to go to the collective memory of Google.

Aha! it was the fact it is Fathers' Day that was the prompt. So...

Not that Millis was my father, or anyone's...but I did watch Lou Gossett, Jr., and Dennis Quaid in the old eighties sci-fi movie, "Enemy Mine" last night, so that likely had much to do with the "why" of my search.
Anyway, Google relinquished that link and those brief stories.

So, in the link, the cat named "Bobo" is (obvious to me if not you) Bill Bonebrake ("Bo," get it?). Millis would have uttered something like "I never heard Bill called Bobo befo'. What be a bobo fo'?" He was into Ebonics, see. The depth of his crudity and the racism inherent in some of his remarks is apparent, I believe. Nobody's act was sacred, anywhere, and nobody was truly safe from his pathetic at-will vomiting. (Thank you for that memory, Boo Dawg!)

Billy Bonebrake was a YMS guide and one of the first individuals who I met in the Valley, going back to '68-'69, maybe.

I was at the memorial gathering at Saddlebag Lake the night before Bonebrake's obsequies took place on "Dana Plato." ("Plato" is Russian for 'plateau', Ducky).

The wind blew the Bobo cremains back into our faces as Dave Bircheff stood there on the brink, unfortunately. It was a terrific joke on our seriousness. We should have been a bit more Millis-esque in out attitude to begin with.

There was some guy with a tape recorder in the campfire circle the night before attempting to get guys (there was not a single gal in attendance that I recall) to come forth with their tales of Millis mischief and glory.

I don't remember Tape Recorder Guy, and hadn't ever met him til then, so...

Maybe he'll see this, maybe not. Maybe the tape is instructional, likely not. So it goes.

There is, as "then-Blinny-etc." tells us, lots of Millis lore, enough to wallpaper the interior of a Yosemite jail cell at least. I mean, the guy was an instigator. Remember the Tenaya Lake water-skiing adventure?

ST is unique to me in much the same way old Millis was unique. I don't need to say more about that.

I just wish someone would remember some worthwhile Millis tales and post them, if they someones ain't dead themselves.
Turn up yo' love light, baby.

Turn up the temperature, too...it's 69° right now in Merced, heading for 106°.

Whipped out in need of format revision @ least

Ah, yes, a day I'd best be at my best, there's no shame in this game, unless your selfish needs take you from family to froth of drunken dispare, even to be buzzed after a certain point the kiddlets know the look. .,
I'm an open book to the dangerous little physics that I'm try in' to raise up.
They both climbed till their teens then stopped, rodotics, computer stuff, I've been out classed.
The other day the mess that is the norm around my hovel, ensnared a Robin.
The poor thing was foraging around the permanently closed, by its broken spring, Overhead garage door.
There, a French drain drain pipe that was once buried, under the moist ground has risen up.
The bird was worming, there. The kids old fishing gear is stuck inside the failed , -very heavy, with out assited spring loaded cable haul system- but some snags and tangles of the 1st ever child -friendly rod and reals, (so made of string not a monofilament line.) had gotten wrapped around one leg. The play in the thin 'kite string' line allowed the bird to fly out, up ten feet then YoYo like return to the dirt by the pipe. In the flash heat wave that you Cali folk would scoff at, I was working on roofing cladding leaky gutters using rubberized black goop to seal the end caps things like that. I kept hearing the strange noise from the repetitive failed flights.
(This is how the family grew to include a chickadee.) I went and saw the strife, gathered a tea-cloth, some sewing scissors and the super attuned to wildlife wife to calm the vibe, and set to work, in the heat & dirt, a rescue ensued. The threads were thankfully dull and dynamic having stretched tightening around between claws -a tangled mess the bird kept up a'chirpping, a very important thing -it stops shock from setting in.. So in about 5 minutes I'd snipped and teased and freed the caught claw, the male Robin has lived to celebrate Father's Day.
Also the nest outside the basement sliding door,my smokin' spot, or it was, is active so I'm suffering a bird closure, the damn things, the closures have always been the bahne ? Bain of my existence

Happy Fathers Day

I'm out to gather food, we have to hit 4 different parking lots to maximize the budget. That is: Shop-rite, TraderJoes, Stop-n-Shop, a Farm stand/ Stew Lenard's, and for
only deli, ham, cheese & Un salted plain roast beast the waste of the place Whole Pay check !
I'll ask after your query mouse.

Canon, not cannon.

Happy Fothering Day, Gnomester!

Fothering refers in nautical contexts to covering a leak in a ship with a sail containing rope fibres to prevent it from sinking after being damaged. This was the technique used to help to refloat HMS Endeavour after she went aground on the Great Barrier Reef on 11 June 1770.

Later, and more efficiently, a sail closely thrummed with yarns was used

The temp's reached 104° here. It might get hotter, though.

So, though I'm fighting the heat with thoughts of snow-fed Merced River water swirling through my bare toes, I'm not going near the floods of this high-water year...don't want chillblains (pernio).

Instead, I'm re-visiting the Merced Canyon in December of '13 on a Perfect Day up on the river that I'll never erase from my memory.

I might get around to posting some of those pics later.

But for now...

Hot/HOTTER

Merced begins/ends with Merced

I know the tune

Hardly anyone else does

No one really cares

Dust/NO WIND

The tune begins/goes on and on and on

Long after I have departed

It may become a standard for the Crickets

Deck the Halls with Boughs of Buddy

Grapes/RAISINS

Wrinkly/sun-dried skin

The juice has long evaporated

Put them on my oatmeal/bran flakes

My skin looks the same now

Let's hear it for Rich Brautigan/HIPSTER-AT-LARGE

One hand

Do I hear two

Hooblie, great shot of the pigeons!
Looks like a squadron of fighters, staggered for maneuverability, preparing for takeoff from some obscure airfield in England. Which brings to mind d'Exupery's Wind, Sand, and Stars all because of pigeons on a tattered roof. :)
Thank you.

Does it seem to all of you that all the images here are improving artistically? It does to me. Lovely. :)
Thank you.
