As I did when John was injured in his car accident, I'm offering 6 more photographs I took of him over the years as limited edition prints. They will be approx. 11"x14" in size, mounted and issued in editions of 25, signed and numbered. They will be priced at $100 each, plus shipping. These are different images than the previous batch and have never been offered for sale to the general public before. Also, as before, Cirrus Digital will absorb all printing and mount costs, so that the ENTIRE purchase price will be donated to the TYRUS BACHAR LIVING TRUST.

For those who wish to contribute to Tyrus financially, this is a great way to do so and have something to remember John by on your wall. The last time we did this we were able to raise almost $6000 for John and Steve, so it just seems like a win/win for all involved.

Here is a link to the site, which will offer more information and will take you to a shopping cart style purchase area where you can use a credit card or arrange to send a check. Because of the credit card situation, it isn't possible to funnel contributions directly to the trust, but if you are writing a check and want to be able to show evidence of a contribution you can write one to the trust for the print cost and one to Cirrus for shipping. Or just write one to us for everything and we will make sure the money is forwarded.

I was at Phil's office today and saw these first-hand. STELLAR! You should see the 40" x 40" print on the wall on John... makes you sweaty! Phil is an awesome photographer and a nit-picker when it comes to producing a fine art print. You can't go wrong with this!

Now this is the way to do it, IMO. When I read about others selling Bachar memorabilia and how 'net' profits go to John's family, I have to wonder how the accounting really works out in terms of dollars and cents. Maybe that's just me being weary of profiteering, but the community deserves to know the real accounting on these things, just as Phil has spelled out here.

Just want to add that along with the revenue that we send to the trust we will include a statement that a contribution of $100 is being made in your name. If more than one print is purchased, as some have done, we will list the total contribution. I would expect that in the future Tyrus would want to have this information. However, if you wish your contribution to be made anonymously, please indicate this in the cart's note field when you make your purchase and we will comply.

Phil,
I love that photo of Bachar on the Oz corner! It really captures the essence of sun drenched early season Tuolumne granite. Wasn't that in a Gramicci ad back in the 80's? Or a similar one from that same photo shoot? I was even more impressed once I found out he's three pitches up.

We actually met at the base of Stately Pleasure Dome back in '87. I was out from the east coast, just finished an 8-day backpack through Yosemite and met a friend who drove out with my climbing gear. I had been climbing maybe 4 months at that time, a noob for sure. You talked about a climb you put up there (Footnote I believe?) and that you were a photographer. We inquired about the Great White Book, and you said it's pretty low angle, so go for it! I remember the upper dihedral being fine even without any pro, but the slabs above completely terrified me. They were like 5.2, but having only climbed at the Gunks and Ragged Mt. the lack of holds really freaked me. I'll never forget that! Thanks for the encouragement BITD. In 89 I moved out to CA and even eventually learned to climb cracks and slab. After returning east I saw one of your photographs in a Chouinard catalog and thought, "hey I met that guy in Yosemite. The climbing world is really small".

Thanks for making you photo available for Tyrus. I'd buy one if I wasn't presently unemployed and pinching pennies. Hopefully that will change soon!

Thanks back to all of you, you are the folks who are really making this work. We have raised over $3000 for the trust in just under a week.

Tomo, yes I remember you, glad you survived. Nothing more terrifying than unprotected Tuolumne slab climbing.

To all who ordered prints:

As I was in California for one week taking care of my responsibilities in the Bachar Memorial, we have been slightly delayed in getting prints shipped. However, the first 12 orders went out today, and we expect to be getting a batch to UPS each day ongoing, working in the order of when the purchases were made. We will not charge your card until ready to ship.

Super, super psyched! My prints arrived yesterday!!! Awesome stuff, Phil! Thank you! Totally psyched that one of them is #1 of the edition. The other print I ordered is #2.

Even tho I am psyched about getting such early numbers in the editions, it probably means you people need to get ordering! Quit wanking! They are gorgeous prints! Place your orders today and help a brutha out!!!
