duh. thanks for your "help". BVB you have no reading comprehension skills - i have an injury. the fact that i went to climb despite that and other things just shows how much i love climbing and if that bugs you, you're just going to have to learn to deal with it. furthermore, wanting to be a climber is a great goal. climbing is fun.

lighten up, bro. that was what we call a "pimp", me jesting with you to keep your spirits up. plus, i kinda know the injury thing, and have worked through it, and continue to work through it, and will always be working through it...i've spend 4 months of the last 5 years in hospitals, 34 of those 120 days in ICU. i'm missing my right lung, have no meniscus in my right knee, have a huge pinch in my cervical spinal cord due to degenerative disease that makes my right arm numb from time to time, sh#t i could go on all day...you gotta want it, dude! suck it up and get back on the crags asap, babe! i'll be sending a good thought your way...

OH MAN. i'm sorry to hear of your medical problems. i know how hard that can be on a family and you and your family must be troopers for sure. i'm sorry you guys have to go through that.

you totally got me! i was like, seriously upset for a minute, cuz we'd always had friendly interactions. but then i decided not to be upset, and i'm getting ready to go out to the gym.

p.s. get better

p.p.s. your bouldering pics are cool.

p.p.p.s. i think i am going to climb easy this weekend with friends as a farewell-to-climbing so that i can at least have closure to it.

Hey Standing Strong,
I've never had a shoulder injury but, like most of us, I've been down, down, and more down: I'm curious what your super low angle crag resources might do for you.

I've had a 9 year bout with pumped forearms, still have to use my right foot for all mousing acivities on the computer and leverage voice activated software when I can.

Here's what I'm gettin' at: yah, you gotta attend to shoulder stuff and a complete lay off, say 6 months to a year is not uncommon in terms of helpfulness whether you are surgical or not, but, but, like most of us, like you, I will not stop climbing completely, notwithstanding a necessary periodic cessation, I will not quit until I have to do tongue presses up 2 degree slabs.

The tuff bit often, with most injuries, at some point during the recovery curve is in maintaining the discipline to seriously moderate output, and figuring out how to stay on the rock in such a way that you keep other systems functioning.

While many other friends have quit climbing for hosts of non injury related life choice reasons, I've been unable to sustain even 5.7 for almost a decade, but dude, for a decade I've been the king of weekly multi-pitch 5.2 to 5.6 low, low angle slabs, even 4th class (stay away from rope handling of any kind and don't fall off). That has kept me well below a threshold of straining my arms, (way less than typing this note), and now that I am back on real 5.9, my "Rock Sense" is as tuned as ever, cuz I've never really left the game and I've had lots of tune in with the birds and rocks and trees...

Werd.

Thank you for sharing your story. some people just don't get it, but you and a couple of others do, and that's refreshing.

This afternoon I drove out to the mokolumne and hiked to lake winnemucca. just a quick cute shortie before sunset, about 2.5 miles in to the lake. it was so pretty and peaceful. i did not see another soul, and it was rejuvenating to hike back in the hues of pink and purple unfolding as the sun set.
