L, there are some pictures of an earlier iteration of it in
Ed Hartouni's post early in this thread.
It's attached to a Redwood tree.
But, seriously, it's 50% bigger now than it looks in the pics.

Holy Moly, Scuff-Master,

That's one big woodie! And you say it's even bigger now? Lots a pain attached to that redwood...but if you're gonna cry, might as well do it out there in a park-like setting, eh?

Can't wait to see the finished Monument of Pain.

Mr T,

Do you know the materials used in the roof crack? It looks like an I-beam on outside and dimenional 2-by lumber on the inside from the video, but it'sa kinda hard to tell.

Im thinking about build a roof crack in my backyard.

just 2x8s and plywood for the top, with two big bolts running through to keep from flexing.

a crack like this is highly recommended - super fun and works wonders for jamming muscles (at least compared to typing).

You guys make me jealous!

I haven't gotten around to installing chin-up bar...let alone the rad habitrail of back yard roof cracks that I hope to confuse and annoy my neighbors with someday.

Does anyone have any examples of crack machines being incorporated into the architecture, meaning that it was part of the structural design of the building?

I'm working on mine right now. So as part of it I want a OW crack, but I'm not sure what size to stuck in. 5" is always brutal, or maybe an 8" squeeze? Thoughts?

My thoughts on the OW part of it. You want it adjustable.
Absolutely, no doubt.
Slight differences in size make for a big difference in how it
feels, how different the moves are.
You get totally used to this brutal 5" size, or whatever, and then when you get on someting 5 1/2" you're shocked, and not pleasantly.

If you can't make it easily adjustable, try to make it big with the possibility of adding shims (panels, really) to make it narrower. Maybe install T-nuts so the shimming panels can be bolted in. I'm saying this because of the clearance issues. It's much easier to get a wrench in there than a drill (that is, you can't just screw something in there easily)
