I'm just trying to figure out what a discerning Aid Climber would look for in gear to purchase.....

Tied 1" webbing aiders, old stove wreckage, Wal-mart hammock, and a surplus duffle rigged with handi-stitched webbing and 3 coats of duck tape. Everything else is just snobbery.

Most discerning aid climbers that I know want it all, at least for experimentation.
Hooks & beaks are key.I'm a snob.(Haha).

The real question is why anyone would want to undertake an endeavor the requires as basic gear kneepads and a helmet.

My question is, what is the lure of climbing a wall with help? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of rock climbing?

I guess...you have a great view, you get to go places where you couldn't traditionally climb without climbing aid.

What is a good list of things you need in order to climb something like El Cap-i-tain?
