I may be many things (not all of them pleasant) but one thing I am not is an illustrator.

I need a black & white line illustration of a hand doing a finger lock. The sort of thing I expected to find in Basic Rockcraft (Sheridan Anderson did fantastic illustrations for the book but they skipped the finger lock.)

Here is a crappy illustration and a fair one I found at a British site (what do they know about thin cracks, anyway?) This gives you an idea of the image I am looking for. In other words, I don't need the whole arm... just a section of crack and a hand clearly showing a finger lock in action.

It's for a shirt, so two shirts to the illustrator!

P.S. Make the image clear enough and at a high enough resolution so it can be scaled up cleanly.

Here is the crap drawing:

This one is a bit better

So... are there no illustrators out there? I have a message into Clelland (that guy is great!) but he may be out of my price range. So... any illustrators out there?

Mike... I 1,000% agree. I am not looking for a professional, just someone who can draw better than me. I apologize to anyone who was insulted by my offer.

What's your timeframe? I might be able to whoop one out for you.
I'm not a professional by any means, nor do I play one on TV.

Simon,

Just take your own photograph of what you want, stuff it into Photoshop, create a copy of the background layer, choose that new layer and then go into FILTER MENU (pulldown), then choose how you want to stylize your photo with the zillion options plainly laid out in there. Tons of fun. Hugely powerful, super-easy, very professional. If you want help, let me know but you have to do the photo yourself and send it to me.

Here is one of tens of thousands of possibilities: my fingers:

Now to illustrate some more of the potential and the before and after, here is my hand on a towel, then Photoshopped in a duotone (since you are silkscreening I guess) and some other filters worked on it. It took one minute after the photo was on my desktop from my Nikon:

Lemme know if one of these will work and I can get you a bigger one in a veritable raft of formats...
I just drew them ten minutes ago, so I can assure you I own the copyright.
With more time, I would probably put some shadowing into them...maybe I'll go do that.

Like Peter showed, you can use Photoshop to alter a photo to look like a drawing. I used the "posterize" modifier, and maybe some other goodies (Photoshop 5.0, from last century, BTW) to get this from a classic Wawona Tunnel view up the Valley.

EDIT: I replaced the image with one without any text.

Just cross your fingers, like The President does when he's lying to us, and thread them into the crack like a bolt in a nut.
