So I just picked this up from my Dad. He has had it since he bought it brand new. Its a 1972 (thats the Copyright) Yosemite Valley wall poster by Paul Harmon, it goes hand in hand with the Roper guide, giving the page number and route number. The poster is really big, maybe 4'x5'

It is in pretty bad shape, but I am thinking about having it restored. Think its worth it?

Anyone ever seen one of these before? The photos scroll top right to bottom left. I am pretty excited about it, I have known about it for some time, but for some reason or another it never got taken down and gotten out...

Let me know what ya think!

Seem to remember those on display and for sale in the Mountain Shop around 1976 . Could be of interest to Chicken Skinner and the Y. C. A. ( http://yosemiteclimbing.org/ )

I had one in the mid-1970s. I don't remember how I got it or where it ended up.

Good Question...

I remember seeing one of those though possibly even later...which would make me think there were copies that came after. Hmm, big difference in number of routes anyway between then and now eh?

I say fix it and frame it.
It's a cool piece of work and would look nice somewhere.
Thanks for sharing it.

Cheers,

I have a very beat-up original of this poster on my office wall -- I'd love to get a cleaner copy. Any idea where to get one?

Have one. It hasn't weathered the years all that well.
Paper seems to have gotten brittle and cracked more than ripped.

I have one that is in decent shape. I will pull it out and check.

The route selection is very interesting...Nose to the Footstool!

That jogged my memory. I too, have one of those buried somewhere. Pretty cool thing looking at it, now, with fresh eyes.

I just spoke with the author hoping to get a new copy (I had one way back when.) Believe it or not he doesn't even have a copy! He is in the process of registering for ST so a new marshmallow for the fire!

Yep. Had one on my bedroom wall in Sacramento. Then on my dorm wall when I worked for Curry Co. Then on my Laundry wall when I lived in Truckee with Hudon. Don't know where it disappeared to after that. It was pretty inspirational to me back then. Now I just drool over the Mark Hudon Panos of El Cap....

Pretty cool, Hoi! Do you still have that rig? If so, I say go to a poster shop and have it mounted and framed, they can fix most of the rips and it'll look totally cool.

The only thing is that you'll have a hard time hanging it up in your van, it looks fairly big.
