I think maybe a facet of the site is social-networking-y, but ST is far from "Just" being a social network.

It's probable that the concept for *social networking* sites evolved out of an awareness of community that develops within specialized web discussion sites.

In other words - We were here first(we, collectively).

It's more of a social club than a climbing site.

i see facebook as an anti-social network. i.e. I never have to read a word of ___'s inane drivel and she never has to read a word of mine. it's just SuperTopo with a real ignore button.

Since some people here think it's networking, and I am fairly sure the climbing-focused people will see this title of the thread and pass....I'm going to ask what you all think of my new model(for my hair accessories shop at Etsy.com).

Her name is Claire:

I'm going to the movies now(since it really IS Sunday after all, and not Monday as I thought for two hours this morning....) I'll see what people have got to say about her when I return.

I fully expect some Locker "I'd do her" posts.

Since SuperTopo has a pagerank of 0 and no place to repeatedly spam backlinks under the guise of a witty signature, I'd say no, this isn't a social network.

At least not one I'd use for some SEO juice.

There's something kinda creepy about that pic, but ya know...I'd probably hit that (if I weren't married, of course).

Reminds me of Lars and the Real Girl. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I think if I gave you a full shot of Claire, some of you would be really wigged. She's got a little bit of a handicap, you see(and it's not just that she looks anorexic).

Hmmmm.....

Thank you, Werner, for the compliment. The hair accessories are made from vintage buttons. I started this back in 2001, but then put it aside for various reasons. I just started selling them again about 2 months ago.

The one in the picture is from Argentina, South America, circa 1940. Hand carved Mother of Pearl with painted detailing. Very sexy, for the right woman.

If this is a networking site, I wanna see some resumes and job reqs, or at least some height/weight/sex/turn-ons postings.

The Taco is The Taco.....ain't no putting a rope around it. It is special and yo can't put it in a box/slot or any other thing that defines it in a limited way.

Jesss sayin' and I know I'm a neubie so please forgive. It's just that this crazy place has given me life when I lost one and breathed new life into yo. Big Smiles to the Best on this Planet. Lynne
