Yesterday it dumped 6 inches and this morning highlighted a nice view of somebody's long lines iced over. Too bad I was 3,500 feet away but you get the idea. (see the inset at the lower right of photo) Anyway, thought I'd share.

They've been hanging there over a month now.

They're primed right now for your slacklining pleasure.

Who's up ....... ?

Thanks, Theo. I'm surprised that anyone would leave lines up there that long. Forgetting about NPS policies on slacklines and fixed gear, those ropes must be getting a hell of a beating. Perhaps they were abandoned for some reason.

PLEASE!!! MAKE SURE TO TAKE DOWN YOUR LINES ASAP! I don't want us to get any further bad rap for "graffeti/trash/polluting" the Valley. I don't think many visitors even notice most of those lines while up during the summer, but I bet the YPR do!

Hmmm, were is my knife...

Hey Lynne, thanks for the shout out on my avatar name. I had been tending bar in San Diego for a few years so when I first applied at the then "MCA" concession, they hired me right away for the Ahwahnee because I had experience. That was in 1975. Now with Delaware North, they not only want experience but you have to go through the Union hire process which means that employees with seniority can bump you off, even if you are more qualified.

Back to the long lines, one strange thing about the Arrow when folks leave the Tyrolean lines up for their project or for extending slack lining, is that when the wind is blowing and the ropes are just the right tension, they vibrate and produce this "drone sound" that can be heard throughout the Village area. It's a surreal noise and kind of obnoxious!

Respect,
Theo

I heard a rumor that it was Dean Potter, who is now exploring the new sport of iced-slackline-BASE-jumping.

O yeah, I heard about that too, slacking with ice skates on, I think the record is two walks before the 'ice' breaks.
