It's pretty much in general a good idea to never touch any part of your face unless you have just washed your hands.
One of the absolutely worst things is a restaurant menu.
I'm insanely vigilant about this stuff, to the point of being borderline nuts. I never touch public bathroom doors as I'm leaving them, I always use a part of my shirt of a paper towel. The legacy of having a minor in microbiology and working for years in a lab with bacterial cultures, toxic chemicals, high levels of ionizing radiation, and animal and human tissue samples.

I'm pretty anal like that too. Public restrooms are a test for me. I don't want to touch the faucets after I wash my hands and certainly not the door handle. The no touch air dryers are great.
In campground toilets the prime directive is that no body part come in contact with anything. It's pretty easy actually, but you'll leave footprints on the rim.
I never thought about menus though. People prolly use 'em for cough shields and all sorts of cool stuff.

Kris, I think it's because in most places they never get washed. And hundreds of people handle them in a week. I always go wash my hands after ordering and before touching my utensils or water glass!
See, I told you, kind of nuts.

We've had worse at Stoney Point for years.
You are pulling hold that have a greasy veneer of human body oils and flesh. Especially on some overhanging stuff that never gets rain.

One time the topic of climbing barefoot at a gym came up and a lady was adamant that no one should do it. She said "I touch those holds with my hands!" I said think of everyone that goes to the bathroom wearing their climbing shoes then comes out and climbs. She probably gave up climbing after that.
