1:43 - is he top-roping or leading? maybe it is leading on a top-rope?

I looked at the video a few times. At various points you can see a top rope strategically trying to be hidden in the crack. My guess is that he was never off or top rope while "climbing."

It looked like lead climbing with the belayer photoshopped out of it or hiding. Where was there ever a top rope?
He was an a$$ for kicking down so much rock.
[edit]
Okay, at 1:16, 1:18, 1:25, and 1:31, the rope is clearly seen below him. At 1:39 and 1:43, it looks like there may be a rope from above but it is not as obvious as the rope hanging below him. If they "shopped" it out then they did a bad job of it. It still looks more like a lead climb to me.

I was really puzzled at 1:25, by the lead rope having zero gear clipped to it. Then I noticed that at the top of the frame you can see the black toprope coming out of the crack above him.

@ rectorsquid - No, I don't think he led any of it. I never spotted a single piece of gear clipped to the "lead" yellow rope.
BTW, there's footage of him tying into the black rope (the toprope) on the ground.

In addition to the already mentioned black top rope that is visible, at 1:03 he is tying into the black rope with the yellow rope in the background. At 1:08 you see both ropes while he is playing with the cam.

Aw crap. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt but he sure is faking it.
I wonder how much other hard-core stuff he did was fake. He sure looked cold jumping into some of those near-freezing pools on his show. And drinking from an eyeball!?!?!?!!

The main problem is that you never do crack climbs with your watch on . . .

Everything that guy does is fake to some extent. I saw an out take of his show, he's talking about the harsh environment he is in, and a freaking train goes by in the background.
