Paul Pritchard and Johnny Dawes climbing together again. Pretty damn inspirational (especially if you know the story of Paul's injury and very long recovery...).

Paul's one helluva nice guy. Great to see him on the rock again.
(for those who don't know, Paul Pritchard was one of the really wild Brit climbers of the 80s/90s. A real Hard Man with daring FA's in Wales, Towers of Paine, Trango Tower, Khirgizistan and other serious places. He had a nearly life ending accident on the Totem Pole in Tasmania in 1998. Was in a wheelchair for a couple of years.)

Deep Play and Totem Pole are both great books. Haven't read The Longest Climb yet.

With a Gri Gri.
But, we haven't got one here.
Oh,,,,,,,,well that only works on single ropes.

This is so inspiring.
I will never again complain about any hurting.
Its great to see PP back at it.
I hope and pray that someday we see a video of Tom Gilje climbing again.

very inspirational. amazing spirit and strength P.P. has. maybe there is hope to climb some harder routes again. I have had to put that "Arse first" style to use. I'd say that's about the condition my body was my first climb back... horrible sewing machine leg in right leg. the muscle spasms when falling that make his right leg straighten uncontrollably, and he slaps his right side into the face. I'm always afraid to jam my right leg into a hold and snap something. or any rope stretch is followed by cheese grating. This is why I prefer more vertical/huge juggy routes.
I hope he keeps it up, and pray for his recovery. hopefully his muscles will start getting the correct signals from his brain. climbing which is familiar will speed that process up

Paul and I and a few friends just got back from a sea kayak adventure--about a 20 mile trip out to Maria Island in Tasmania. WIld seas on the return trip!

Wonderful movie. A good reminder that we all have our own challenges and our pleasure comes from dealing with our challenges. How nice it is when our friends appreciate and respect and have patience with those challenges.
Went kayaking today with a woman who had tremendous enthusiasm and good cheer. We were working on her roll and she made good progress till she was so tired and shivering that it was clearly past time to quit. Getting out of the boat, her feet were numb with cold, which amplified her limp.
20 years ago she cratered when her chute did not fully open off a bridge in West Virginia. I guess it is nice to be alive. She expressed an interest in climbing but skepticism that she could do it with a bad foot. I will have to send her the link.

The 10 mile paddle back from the island was rockin--big swell, big current, 30 kilometer winds. Fairly terrifying. Paul was out in the lead the whole way, pedalling steadily along...
