Well-known Colorado climber Bill Wright was attempting to climb 100 pitches in Eldorado Canyon yesterday, entirely via simul-climbing. I just read on his blog that the attempt ended in a huge head-first fall while his partner, Tom, was leading on relatively easy terrain. I don't know what time this happened, but it was raining hard here in Colorado around 4-6pm. I'm pretty sure this was in the morning yesterday.

Please send Tom and family your prayers and positive thoughts for a complete and speedy recovery.

Wow! I first thought, oh crap this is bad! Then I went to Bill's blog and read his report. Now I am stunned that things are as good as they are. This was a seriously epic incident. My best wishes go out for a full and rapid recovery. And major kudos to Bill for keeping it together under such duress.

Get well soon Tom. Cool to see such ambitious goals. Why did he fall on 5.6 terrain? Maybe he was tired after so many pitches! I hope he's ok.

Wow, what a story! Glad there wasn't any really serious injuries - it could have been sooo much worse.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Hate it when people use the word tragedy. Tragedy usually implies death. Happily not the case here. only near-tragic.

That is one hell of a story. I was in tears myself.

Good luck to everyone involved.

Best wishes to Tom and all his friends and family.

As someone who experienced head trauma myself, my heart goes out to you. It takes time to heal, a long time. And good friends are paramount.

Be there for him. I'm serious. He will hate it but he will need you. Be patient and kind. The hard part is ahead but a good life can be achieved again.

Tom,

If you ever read this remember: Your friends WANT to help you.

LET THEM!!! Besides, you can't stop them. You know how friends and family are. They're a total pain in the ass. Worse, they are going to do it anyway. (It's what you would do.)

The good part is that you will like it in the end. It is totally cool. Of course you will owe them big time but paying back friends with your kindness and love (and maybe a few pranks thrown in) is always a VERY GOOD thing.

Good luck to you Tom. I don't know you but you are always welcome to email me via the Taco.

We can swap "Reboot" and "Crazy Man" stories.

How cool is that!!!

I am curious if "WE" were wearing a helmet. I have climbed the big stone too many times without one. I always wear one now when I climb, even when top roping.

My best wishes for a speedy recovery. Getting busted up really stinks!

What a story indeed, especially for those of us who are familiar with those routes and could see ourselves there wondering what we would have done. What a tale for the grandkids, John! And all my best wishes to Bill for his full recovery.

This sounds huge. Damn good thing he was wearing a helmet from the sounds of things.

Simul-climbing is DANGEROUS, kiddies. Caveat climbtor.

Best wishes to Tom for a complete recovery.
