hi friends!

i told myself i would never return to this supertacotopostand or whatever you call yourselves, and yet, here i am, either because i found you all strangely charming, or because i'm tripping on ambien. or maybe the little blue monster on the desk is right, and having pictures of my face posted on an internet forum so random internet weirdos could make fun of my hair gave me a brief feeling of celebrity that i want to relive.

in any event, proof that any press is good press, the supertaco heterosexist bonanza and blogging about said bonanza brought more hits to the homo climbtastic web site than getting shout outs from the american alpine institute, rock and ice, and that gay porn star levi poulter blog combined. i now return, not to stoke the embers of blog-worthy conflict, but bearing gifts. gifts of swag for the Homo Climbtastic Queer Climbing Convention (July 15-18, 2010).

you see, the homo climbtastic anti-comp, with its myriad punishing competition categories, including Most Unintelligible Southerner, Longest Stream of Curse Words While Clipping, and Singing Barbara Streisand While Clipping an Entire 5.12 will carry more than just the pride of laying waste to your competitors with your charm, talent, nerve, and recockulous sends, no, you gonna win motha f*#kin priiiiizes.

this is because Chaco is sending us free shoes, Prana and Black Diamond gear and accoutrement, Aveda their styling products, Beta Clothing Designs some fly pieces of apparel, Friction with climbing holds, drag superstar Pandora Boxx's secret donation, Send Austin's bumper stickers, free berets, and chalk bags galore. (also i think we may be getting an extra-special pair of knee-pads.) all icing on the cake of a gazillion awesome lgbt-friendly climbers hitting up the crags of the New River Gorge.

but this convention has an economic deadline. with only a month to go, business traveller prices are already starting to creep up on airplane tickets, and will be sh#t-nasty in two weeks. if you want to come, you betta start clicking on kayak for flights to Beckley or Charleston West Virginia, D.C., or Pittsburgh. or just load up the car and drive. whatever.

we're working especially hard to get more of you lady types out there this year. the women currently signed up climb anywhere from 5.10-5.13 so you'll have a broad range of women to crank with. also they're all really hot. so if you're a climber chick who digs other climbing chicks, you should make it out. are you tired of being the only hot sending lesbian at your gym? i thought so! now buy your ticket, fool!

click over to our web site, http://www.homoclimbtastic.com, and join the 50+ other people already signed up.

and as a reminder, yes, you can come if you're straight, we have plenty of straight people attending, and they always agree that our climbing trips are a lot more fun. the Powell-Gray-Rowland-Penabella Comedy Quattro on its own is enough to do that, and that's only four of us.

see you at the new,

Glad you came back, hope you get a great turnout.
I hope you have a less-restrictive category for the Streisand singout
while clipping 5.12 event, like maybe wouldn't Judy Garland be OK, or
maybe a broader Rogers & Hammerstein catalog?

Best of Luck, and Kick Ass!!

Sh#t, At first I though you were screwing with us (I didn't see the other threads you reference and your "trippin on Ambien" seemed a tad off as an opener), but I realize now that you're serious and it's just your breezy writing style. Looks like you are all set up to have an awesome shin-dig of a time! I tend to avoid groups by nature as I'm inwardly a bitter old man, so don't think my absence is because I have anything against gays, you guys in particular sound like a hoot to hang with!

So have a great time, thanks for sharing the event dates and info, be safe, use protection ....and I'm serious here on the next one: share the (climbing) pictures with us when you get back will ya!? This site has too much non-climbing related bs and trash talking already and maybe you can help pull it out of the slump.

Well, he might be a Log Cabin Republican, but the evidence is all to the contrary. Whether the LCR's actually have any members may be an interesting question - could be another Republican astroturf group.
The mission of the Log Cabin Republicans is to work within the Republican Party to advocate equal rights for all Americans, including gays and lesbians.

I KNOW I'd win the "Stream of Swear Words" 'cos I can swear in Quebecois french & that trumps English

Ha! the only reason you can swear in Quebecois is the same reason I can do it in Japanaese -- because you got cussed out so much in that language by a spouse. The big difference is that you deserved it. So there.

Best wishes for the shindig Alex.

Edit to add: Since its transgender friendly, I should go and tell the tale of my trip to Germany for a sex change operation. Is there a prize for that?

Hey Tami,

My name is Rio and I help coordinate the HC Crew with Alex. I just wanted to say that you hit it bang on. You don't have to be gay/lesbian to come a long. I've invited a bunch of my straight guy friends to come a long for the weekend on past trips and the upcoming trip. They all had a blast. Cause at the end of the day, it doesn't matter who you're dating, its what project you're crushing. And last year, we got on some serious classics such as "Quinsana Plus" (as featured in the latest Rock and Ice photo issue with Lynn Hill), "Tobacco Road" and "Apollo Reed" at Summersville Lake.

And bring on the "tabarnac" and "cālice". I've climbed in Val David, Montagne D'Argent, and Kamouraska. lol.
