After this TR, I can only say, "I am not worthy; I am not worthy!" (like Wayne and Garth in the presence of Alice Cooper in Wayne's Word, the movie).

You guys wouldn't have believed Cristobal free climbing the wyde pitches of The Real Nose down below El Cap Tower. You get into a bit of a bowling alley down there, with wide cracks back in the base of a deep dihedral that is not particularly visible from below, even to the belayer [me].

So Cristobal flies up these cracks, which would have to go at hard 10 or "easy" 11, nasty wide things mostly too big for fist jams. He absolutely cruised them! Flew up the damn things.

I clean the pitch - rather easy when the cams were placed fifty or sixty feet apart! - and get to the belay to congratulate him. And he points at his untaped hands and his bare elbows in his T-shirt and says,

"Look, Pete - no marks!" He barely had any rub points - let alone any abrasions or blood! What flawless technique. Damn. I was amazed, as he had never climbed in Yosemite before.

"We have granite in Patagonia too, you know...." ;)

The 6b corner pitch on the Franco is freakin' amazing.

Nice season down there, that is what, a hundred total pitches or so of climbing?
