Was it a nasty, runny, post-Curry Village style spray-a-thon or a solid, cheese-tempered coil? Peanuts? Maybe a bottlecap from a 40 of Old E?
A nice, tight stool wouldn't be too bad to deal with. Hell, any real wall climber worth his/her salt would just grab the thing bare handed, lob it into the talus, tie in and start leading. Rox, there are lots of enhancements on wos, but you won't see them. What does that indicate to you? 10%?
Why would a guy lie if he really only carved 15 holes out of about 145 or more placements? Wouldn't you simply say that's what you had to do? The number went from none to 4 or 5 to 10% or 15 total. Not including the batheads. And considering they started with the "every drilled placement was filled with metal" line casts doubt on their otherwise meticulous recordkeeping.

Rox, you're exactly right. How many people have written a book about their El Cap routes? Their initial information revealed more than they would acknowledge later on-line which added to the frustration in trying to relate to their approach.
