Cosmic - You have ONE complainer who can't handle the width and girth of your....artwork. But what about the REST of us who will complain about NOT having...access???
But, as you probably know - you CAN make the files internet-friendly if you don't already. Are you saving in lower resolutions?

Cosmic I would guess you are referring to me...
One it was not a "complaint" as you put it, it was a "guideline" for Sara Funky Fresh and her new forum, and some ribbing for you.
But, if you want to play your worn out victim card and be a giant baby.... so be it.

You dumb ol' desert rats gettin yer bags all twisted up over nothin' reminds me of my favorite Guy Clarke song. Particularly the verse in bold...
"Out in the parkin' lot"
I'm sittin' on the fender of someone else's truck
Drinkin' Old Crow Whiskey and hot 7 Up
Out in the parkin' lot
You can hear the band playin' right through the walls
Ain't no cover charge, ain't no last call
Out in the parkin' lot
Yeah, I love to see the neon dancin' on the gravel
And I love to hear the pickup trucks as they come unraveled
Some've given up, some've given in
Seems like everybody's lookin' for a friend
Out in the parkin' lot
Whoops, there's a couple who could not wait to get home
They're probably in love, so let's leave them alone
Out in the parkin' lot
There's a couple of cowboys puttin' up their dukes
But there weren't much to it after both of 'em puked
Out in the parkin' lot
Now someone called the police, and the police finally came
They wrote a coupla tickets and took a coupla names
Out in the parkin' lot
Yeah, I love to see the neon dancin' on the gravel
And I love to hear the pickup trucks come unraveled
Some've given up and some've given in
Seems like everybody's lookin' for a friend
Out in the parkin' lot
Now, the band is on the bus and they're all loaded up to leave
But the drummer's got a girlfriend and she's tuggin' at his sleeve
Out in the parkin' lot
Yeah, I love to see the neon dancin' on the gravel
I love to hear the pickup trucks come unraveled
Some've given up, some've given in
Seems like everybody's lookin' for a friend
Out in the parkin' lot
I'm sittin' on the fender of someone else's truck
Drinkin' Old Crow Whiskey and hot 7 Up
Out in the parkin' lot

It's a simple courtesy to keep the images at 700 pixels or less, because––GET THIS––most websites
are STILL DESIGNED FOR 1024 X 768 RESOLUTION (shocking, I know - please don't faint - take a bong hit).
On my 20" iMac, I have my browser window(s) open at about half screen size because––GET THIS––most websites
LOOK BETTER AT THEIR NATIVE SIZE as designed (shocking, I know - please don't faint - take a bong hit).
This very forum, on this very website is designed so that––GET THIS––images are best presented at 700 pixels
or less, and as you may have actually noticed, images larger than that affect the presentation in a knott-so nice way.
Damn, I hate to be the bearer of such stunning, bad news...

One Year Anniversary DejaVu thread of the previous Cosmic meltdown:
http://www.supertopo.com/climbing/thread.html?topic_id=638409&tn=0
Holy shiit Cosmic... buck it up buttercup. I did a search on "700 pixels" and got years worth of "complaints" and requests from all sorts of posters. As icing on your box of kleenex, it was even pointed out to Peter Haan!!!!!!111666.
Fuk it... if you want to be "Cristo" and drape your "art" all over the page, go for it. Just be aware that some people, myself included, see it as not only annoying in a horizontal scrolling sort of way, but also a thread killer. Go wild.

Look, Ouch! had a certain style. You have a certain style. And now Peter has a certain style. It's all good. You're all great! And it's all an integral part of the TacoDelic Bonanza.
And you know--in your heart of hearts--that Russ has a heart as big as yours...which is to say, Ginormous. He wouldn't want to squish your creative flame...he was just trying to help with the viewing of your creations.
There's been a lot of tragedy in our climbing community lately...feelings are raw, hearts are sensitive. Just try to think of what's been said about this in the light of all the loss...maybe it won't matter all that much in the end, huh?

So I am a bit confused. Earlier Russ posts a way too big jpeg because he is bent out of shape about OT threads (which is where Russ apparently spends most of his time) with only a link and no explanation. In an extremely vulnerable time I have a melt down about it. That gives some posters license to take unreasonable cheap shots at me. Then Russ gives a fair and reasonable explanation about the etiquette of pic size.
Cosmic gets offended. Which gives some posters (the same) license to take cheap shots at Dwain. It seems now Russ is complaining about the hassles of too big of pictures. Russ first etiquette post was fine. It was the later mean spirited stuff I found unreasonable.
So is it OK for Russ to post oversized pics when he is annoyed but then have a problem if someone else does? Are fish sacred cows or what? Say what disparaging things you want about the sensitive artistic types. But maybe a few words about the insensitive un-artistic types would be in order.
And Russ before you go slagging on me understand that I have no problem with you. I realize that the earlier situation was a simple case of misinterpretation. You make great gear and over the decades I have turned on dozens of climbers on to your wares. It's just that you can come across a little hard hearted at times. It is unnecessary at best. And for others to jump on the bashing band wagon seems petty and trite.
Can't we all just get along?

Philo, it is not even remotely the same thing.
My nuke posts are perhaps my version of a meltdown. There is maybe one nuke a year..... They are meant to disrupt. Cosmics and other big pictures are not meant to disrupt, but to entertain and for people to enjoy. But, they are disruptive. When the sidewall is blown out of a thread, I know I quit reading or contributing to the thread... it is just too much hassle to keep scrolling side to side. The sheer size of some of the files (animated GIF's) drags even a cable modem down to a crawl, and cripple hand held options like CrackBerries.
As for the cheap shots at you and Cosmic by others... well maybe they (the cheap shot-ers) just don't like you guys that much? I don't know, I'm not "them". I don't see my comments in this thread as particularly mean spirited either. They are just not the usual coddling and fluff that gets tossed around. I say what I think, and from my real name too. Call it a fault.
Thanks for your support, that FBI stuff not withstanding.

Russ I know the situations are not the same. And I am sorry I had such a problem with it. Anyone knowing what I was and am facing would have easily understood my reaction. But what is similar is the "jump on the guy with a problem" responses. Wouldn't it be sufficient to say to simply say "sorry to lose your cool stuff"? Why do folks have to make it worse by slagging. We are dropping like flies out there do we have to lay turds on each other?
Russ man you are awesome. But for some folks to make fun of someone with a problem is just so piss poor.

Philo - I have enjoyed your various toons, so thanks for those.
This seems to boil down to one guy's ability to just say "thanks fo the input, I'll take it under advisement" rather than losing it and taking the bat and ball and going home. The initial stuff that started this did not justify the fit that was thrown. (completely my own opinion)
Climb the mountains and get their glad tidings;
Peace will flow into you as sunshine into flower;
the winds will blow their freshness into you and storms their energy,
and cares will drop off you like autumn leaves.

Yeah, what's with you Cosmic?
The only time Russ can really hurt you if he lands a real blow to your body.
He can pack a mean punch, I wouldn't want to be on the receiving side of one of those. He's got a wicked strong arm.
Ever see him double pump the baseball before the smoking fast throw to first?

I don't think there is any bashing going on. It's simple, russ made a valid point, and cosmic went off butt hurt over nothing.
I for one think his little treasures are entertaining. Just change the size for the format he wishes to present his material and all is well.

As we all know, I liked his stuff enough to ask to put it on my site ... where I made nice layouts and the pixel sizes probably would have pleased everyone. But I was asked to take them down.
Making and disassembling the layouts were hours of my life I could have been doing something that would have made me or other people happy -- which was the intention of all the work! I just wanted to put a smile on other people's faces. I was trying to celebrate someone's talents, and what happened was I had to go home after the paying job and undo unpaid work that I had spent my weekend creating.
I've come to the realization in my short life that somebody is always going to criticize or dislike you and your reaction is your problem ... or not a problem. As a wise woman once told me, "What anybody says, thinks or feels about me is none of my business."

Lynne, I'm so confused! This word "brussk", I can't fine it in the dictionary.
Do yo mean "brusque"?
brusque |brəsk|
adjective
abrupt or offhand in speech or manner : she could be brusque and impatient.
Just wondering. Cheers!

Eubonic? Is that some kind of quasi-eubonic word for "ebonic"
Which reminds me: Why were there only 49 contestants in the Miss Ebonic USA contest? Cuz no one wanted to wear a sash saying "Idaho"

Hey Cosmic,
Just one guy making a logical comment gives you the right to be an attention whore ?
I was under the understanding that some of those manipulations were for showing your appreciation to all those who had helped you with the mortgage you weren't going to be able to pay. ( parrots pulling sleigh ).
How could you remove those- Or did you pay everyone back? Or do you no longer appreciate those who helped ?
I never really cared for the crap you do but a gift is a gift and those who gave should get something, you just cant take it away because someone hurt your feelings.
Now quit being such a puss and Give back.
Maybe the begfest will work on some of those newer sites.
Hey LOOK everybody, Cosmic is back with all his Rainbows and Unicorns. Crap !!!

hey there all, say... i been busy with grandkids and such, so i just dropped in for a post or two, and had to rush off---say, as someone recently posted here---is this the fastest to "100" post, or not... (well, something like that)...
say--it HAS grown fast to the high numbers here, hasn't it...
hmmm... it seems for all us, no matter what skills we have, there is always the trail-into-the-high-country, for us...
you know---when we know that we have something NEAT to offer to others, and (bravely or shyly, depending on our nature) step forward and share it, and then a bit later come to find that there is a more of a trail to all than we may have first seen--but it is this new "trail aspect" that makes us stronger and helps us grow, as, in life we must continualy strengthen ourselves (being that trail-work is good for the body, soul and spirit, and THAT is part of what life is really all about (that, and love for our fellow man, etc)....
well, as we take our skills to the next level and into the "high country", there are on occasions, "streams" to cross (all this being applied as from "human to human relations" in our life's trails (not a "real" stream, min you)--where who-we-are and what--we-do, and our skills as well, are seen in the "setting" that we walk, in nature):
thus:
some "streams" we can manage, as we are familiar with these... but some are trickier, as they involve more turns (perhaps, the picture of "more attitudes from more folks" than we've seen before,etc)...
or perhaps some of these streams have faster moving waters (things that suddenly appear and mighty strong to get through, due to folks and such, along the way in life)...
or, perhaps these new streams have a slippery crossing and rocks that are not tested, or ones that we just haven't faced, skillwise, yet, in our quest to cross said-steam, with our skills (being the first example, in this setting that i have set up to use---but others of you can use this for your job, or your marraige, too, etc)...
well: turning back, may or may not get us up to the "high country"---it all depends...we may find a path back to our trail after the "turning back", that is better suited for us, if we aren't fully ready yet for certain trails yet... or we may just go back and set a spell, keeping our skills more for our needs, which may not be the high country yet... or--- there may be many more WHATEVERS (even being lost from high country trail)... but:
if we PRESS-ON.... the slick waters and the powerful currents may be fearful, or if not, they may simply just be too strongly "roaring" at said-moment(and in innocent and natural ways) (or, in ways just not to our personal likeing or maybe just not to our understanding, as to slick or tricky, or fast-dropping-rivers) BUT----if we press-on, we will see the HIGH COUNTRY, the "highest call" for our skills and how they can be shared... three cheers for the high country! (or so i've come to learn from many such journeys of the past)... :)
sure--we may CHOOSE to cross this stream that is suddenly before us (on this newest high country trail)with some peace of inner soul, or with grumbling, or with simple apprehention, or with resentment, or with the joy of adventure (any of these attitudes, as, many pros and cons, do exist for the varieties of the human soul) when we DO decide to finally "JUST DO IT")... but once we DO, the "high country" IS OURS and NO ONE, can take it away...
oh, the wonders of "higher ways"!... :)
the higher-ways will come ONLY once the streams before us, are takcled... getting OVER them may take some time and WE ALL cross them differently... and WE ALL have our "personal streams"...
so then, this all shared:
say all---let's give each other a hand in some way, as we cross...
and...
say all---let's give others the priveledge of getting to see us, as we cross...
there is more joy, in the many witnessess...
(though, the first "visualized" crossing may be privately practiced, to encourage our stamina, for when we step forth)...
so--just like when we hike and climb, jointly, and do so the beauty of it all is: TOO river deep and mountain high, and field and prarie vast, to at first comprehend...
that is until we accomplish it, and let it all soak in:
say, as to this lesson from the "happening here", say, i can see good things happening... even if it takes time... :)
well----i got my own trails to hit, some on the home front and some in general, here and there...
*say, i see some good work being done here, and some good ideas, as to coaching, etc...
well, onward and upward, for those traveling, i reckon...
the high country beckons...
:)

What happened to the promise of "links from now on" for your "art"? I was so looking forward to that part of your meltdown. oh well.... Live the lie baby!
side note: Please forward a copy of your copyright clearance to me at your earliest convenience for that photo above.
side note 2: I'm sure Sooze will be overjoyed about you depicting her as a clown. I guess manipulated pictures of wives and whatnot are fair game in your paraquat induced hell? I really didn't think you were cut out for this sort of stuff, but I guess we learn something new every day. Classy.
