The Capitan has bestowed his blessings. Life is good. I've been experimenting with a helmet camera. Peep these!

Great photos Zak, but I can't get the video to run for some reason... Hope the rest of the season in the Valley treats you well. Gimme a ring when you head south (I'm nursing a bum shoulder, so I don't think I'll be up in the Valley in August).

27?!

And the hollow dark rock pitch - that helmet cam will throw the butterflies into your gut just sitting at your home desk.

Great stuff - some of the long exposures at night are just incredible. Thanks for putting that all together and sharing.

Mr. Tour V,

The photos = tremendous

The climb = stout

The solo = a testament to the human spirit, self-overcoming, an inward journey that hopefully brings a fresh perspective to the terrestrial.

congrats!

Is that an USHBA ti wall hauler rigged as an adjustable daisy? Looks cool and I imagine has less wear than the buckle kind. RAD stuff!!!

GoBig - nice work on the 'lito... hope you didn't mind my razzing you guys... "so, you must be gettin tired...." as the second night approached, etc. i started up with 20 (yes, twenty) gallons thinking i'd do something much harder, so forced myself to drink and went as slow as possible.

Werner - i'm sure you've seen the 2by4 blocks stacked with cams and bros, you probably invented it. must be refering to my use of the hammer to "clean" a cam placement on p5 of the straw... the camera didn't pick it up, but i remember saying something like "not sure about the ethics of this" as i tapped away the edge of the flake - slamming in an arrow would have broken off far more rock if not the whole flake, but there you have it, i used the hammer to bust off an inch of a thin flake so i could get a micro cam behind it.

gear question - those are ushba basic ascenders. somewhere there's a thread in here where Kate describes their use. same rig, but i use'd quicklinks between the ascender and 'biner. a bit bulky, like when the piece you're testing pops theres now an ascender in addition to the piece hitting you in the helmet, but i love the system and will never spend anoth 40 bucks on (yet another) set of yates adjustable daisies (the rest of their stuff rocks).

helmet cam question - it's a pov 1.5. pretty sweet system!

thanks for all the positive responses! (we're all going to die!)

That was a really cool perspective. One I have yet to see. Great video footage and editing on the Straw vid.

It is cool to see how others search out the next move, feel for loose stuf, make the next move and what not.

That was fun to see you climb.

Thanks

AHOY SHORTEST STRAW!!!!! AHOY DOWN THERE!!!!! Proud, Thanks for the water on Bismark, we had a much-needed water party. HOLY FARGIN HOTTT. Hope we did'nt keep you up. The second night lead to some funny albeit delirious moments of uncontrollable monkey calling and laughter.

Thanks also for the great video! the hooking pitch was scary even to watch, sucked me right in there. Awesome.

Sweeeeeeet video on the straw!

Somehow I was more scared watching the hooking pitch in your video than I was actually hanging on those same edges....

Dang I wish I could remember what we climbed together... maybe just hanging in the valley, though. And TradBrad! Bringing back some super fuzzy memories.

Zak, that was awesome dude! Was that 24 or 25 hook moves, WTF were you thinking? : ) REMEMBER KIDS this is a trained professional, so don't try this at home. Incredible footage, sometimes scary to watch, and I loved your arrival at peanut ledge.

Congrats bro, you da man!

You should sell that hookin' video to Sesame Street. Get the preschoolers off plastic.
