Christ @ the Crags/ (*so were on the shuttle bus)
Just to give you climbers out there a place to get a little message, and keep on crag'n! And get one from you.
John Muir said the best church I was ever in was the mountains.
But people are the real church. As PTPP said he has a lot more to climb!
So will bring it to you, a little everyday.
I go to Grace Church, www.gty.org John MacArthur has over 3000 message free online, but he's strait no chaser.
But my spiritual grandfather is J Vernon McGee, www.ttb.org who's gone now, but
he drives the* Bible Bus, 5 yrs Thru The Bible, There online free as well, and
he puts the cookies on the botton shelf.
On, www.kkla.com there is Alistair Begg, a Brit with a wit, Truth For Life
Chuck Swindoll, Insight For Living
Pastor Paul Sheppard, Enduring Truth, lol
I'll post new pages from John MacArthur's book,
"Daily Readings From The Life of Christ"
Thanks Dr.F, for helping all the (FAITHFUL) people step up!

Not that we need to be encouraging posters who overtly or implictly promote christianity, or any other brand of religion.

Yea..thumbs down for christ, but thumbs up for John macarthur. I went to his huge church when I was a kid. Went to school with his kids, even hung out at his house. Nice Nice man.
See thats whats cool. I can hate on god but I dont hate his believers, they just annoy me.

Moral quandry:
I want to tell you to please talk about climbing or other things that do not have to do with unprovable (and also, by extension, I admit, irrefutable) and inflammatory speculation/beliefs. Please. Seriously.
By making this request I will bump this post, thereby increasing its visibility and longevity.
AAAHHHHH MOBIUS STRIP OF LOGIC!
Seriously though, please don't. Just don't. To weigh in on threads about broader issues of ethics and current events with a religious PERSPECTIVE is well within the community ethic here.
To START a thread dedicated to proselytizing however? That is clearly out of bounds.

why did you christians steal all my 200,000 year old holidays ? bitches...
methinks all this talk of heaven and hell, god and devil is really an avoidance of personal responsibility for how we treat ourselves and each other...plus something to cling to in the face of an infinite and somewhat indifferent universe...
and why do we say "merciful god spared one survivor..." shouldn't it really be "vengeful god kills all but one on the plane..." ?
seems to me that the lord's plan might really not be all that well thought out ;-)
and the word 'lord'. so jesus is a 16th century british land owner ?
it's a copout. sorry ;-) we make and break our own reality, and this thing we all call god sure as hell isn't some old bearded dude with a clipboard...god is what drives flowers to face the sun, and sharks to eat when there is blood in the water - there's no magic here but the simple magic of existence...which actually is more precious and powerful than anything out there, but we've long since forgotten this fundamental truth and now argue over names for phenomena we don't even fully comprehend.
next week - mithras, horus, and jesus : white wine or red ?
i diss the mormon population a fair amount on here because i'm in utah...but don't think for a second i think other religions are any less of a cult, designed by the few to deceive the masses into forgetting truths we knew before we even knew we were human...
(please don't preach at my crag ;-) i don't come to your church and climb...)

Psalms 103,
1 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
3 who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
5 who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
6 The Lord works righteousness
and justice for all who are oppressed.
7 He made known his ways to Moses,
his acts to the people of Israel.
8 The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9 He will not always chide,
nor will he keep his anger forever.
10 He does not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
13 As a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
14 For he knows our frame; he
remembers that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are like grass;
he flourishes like a flower of the field;
16 for the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
and its place knows it no more.
17 But the steadfast love of the Lord is from
everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him,
and his righteousness to children's children,
18 to those who keep his covenant
and remember to do his commandments.
19 The Lord has established his throne in the heavens,
and his kingdom rules over all.
20 Bless the Lord, O you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his word,
obeying the voice of his word!
21 Bless the Lord, all his hosts,
his ministers, who do his will!
22 Bless the Lord, all his works,
in all places of his dominion.
Bless the Lord, O my soul!
