The state of confusion
Topic Author's Original Post - Jul 18, 2009 - 11:25pm PT
I had the distinct pleasure to spend a day in the hills with Tarbuster
this week (hopefully the first of many I'll have). . .

We headed out to Golden Gate State Park in Cowloradow, for a delectable
little pinnacle

It was a pretty nice walk through the fields & forests there, filled with wild
roses growing and a ton of other gorgeous flowers. . .unfortunately I didn't take
any pictures of those. . . my bad.

But we got there, and started to gear up. . .

Roy headed up the knott too steep face of our climb. . . and even though I
didn't have my glasses on, I did get this pic of him leading the first pitch. . .

Here's me freakin' at the sight of the next pitch. . .hee hee hee. . .

Here's Tarbuster on top. . .

Here's some of the view from the top--a gorgeous little valley filled with aspens
and flowers, what a great place to put a tent and play for a couple of days. . .

Here's me on top, looking west to the continental divide. . .

So you can see, I'm knott just one of them anomylous posters that . . .

well, you get the idea--get out there and have some phun!!!!

Roy & I wiled away the afternoon speeding 'round tight curves back to his place
for sum BEER!!!!!!
What a great day. . . and I didn't get a speeding ticket this time!!!!!

I used to scramble those particular mountains back when I was in high school, and wanted to
climb things but had no idea how. We'd get ourselves in trouble soloing the easier ledges.
Cool to think the real faces are legit climbing grounds now. Neat day you guys had, from the
looks of it.

"legit climbing grounds "

Well that's a stretch.

And I'm really saddened to see this hit the Internet, I mean not from Steve per se, but my gosh.
We were hoarding it, or so we thought, like for future generations.

OK, I jest.
And I promise to take some pictures of the wildflowers,
As this is only minutes from my front porch.

(It is really pretty or idyllic or something schmoozy like that.)

Great TR, Steve! Just what I needed to remind me that there's more to life than fighting summer traffic and insanity in a city.

What a beautiful place...and "serene" was exactly the word that came to mind.

(BTW Stevie...you could make those photos a little larger next time, just so we gals can see those handsome mugs of yours and Tars and drool a bit, y'know? :-))

Thanks again for Roy taking me up there.

You almost couldn't believe the wild roses--the fragrence
was just so wonderful. The other flowers were just gorgeous
too, something I wish I could capture as well as Roy has!

SteveW nice thread, Thank you. How good to get out with the Tarbuster man.

I love Golden Gate State Park as well. And I also grew up surviving the early learning curve adventures in that wonderful terrain. Chiloe where did you go to HS?

It's true.

This is getting to be a: "what's happening in our local neighborhood" thread.
I know, huh.
So what, that's how it is around these parts.

So while Mr. Stich and I were hiking up to Ralston Roost,
We ran into these guys en route:

But they already had riders,
So it was like: "no dice" for the hike up as it were.
And you already saw the pictures depicting our meager ascent.

So anyway: "Ah lakk horses" ... so you get those pictures too.

Lakewood! Small world, I went to Bear Creek or as we called it 'Bare Freak'. Our schools were football rivals. I went to a game against your school once. I couldn't care less about the game but I was dating one of hot cheerleaders. We must have won as she was really jumping and leaping and doing splits all over the place. Needless to say I didn't actually watch the game. I wasn't so much into team sports anyway since I had the greatest backyard a boy could hope for to play in.

You outta towners and flatlanders should really consider a visit to the GGSP on your pilgrimages to Cowlyrahdo. It's purty like them horses.
