I don't smoke, drink, or do drugs, (yea, i'm lame) but once a week i allow myself the luxury of consuming one of these gut bombs.

If i am going light, i just go with your basic glazed. If i am jonesing for the big sugar, i select the monster cinnamon swirl.

Anyone else share this fetish? What is your favorite?

i could do the tour de france on a box of fresh chocolate raised and a six pack of jolt cola.

use to ride 50 miles to work everyday round trip.
halfway point was the donut shop on campbell ave near winchester.
i would rush in for a quick pick me up in the winter, and eat it while steering the bike with both hands in traffic.
you have to make a dough ball in your mouth that is still hokked to the rest of the un chewed donut, and then gently drag the rest of the donut in as you consume it, leaving enuff space for oxygen.

that shop is still there, they have it all tricked out, donuts with toppings, like cold stone, and freaky art work inside for stoners.
coolest donut shop in the gay area.

About 10 months into a 14-month chronic abdominal pain epic, someone mentioned celiac disease. I almost shot myself, not from the constant gouging pain, but from the thought of never eating another doughnut.
Feeling (mostly) better now.
Doughnuts = good, except jelly-filled >> nasty.

In 1988 i drove non stop solo from Denver to San Diego in the middle of winter in an old beat VW bug with no heater.

I was wearing a sleeping bag with my feet out the bottom of it.

A six pack of Jolt Cola was my companion.

on the way back from la, i stopped at the dennys at the bottom of the grapvine and bought a whole pie, and a plastic fork.
it took the waitress an hour to figure out how to ring it, so i said, "just ring me for six slices of lemon mirange pie, bi-atch!

it was dark, and i was suprised to find the entire pie gone by the time i hit casa de fruta.

Doughnuts will be the death of me.

Here is my version of the best breakfast ever.

WARM doughnuts, preferably glazed or twists or maple bars.
Scrambled eggs with cheese.
Bacon.
Berries or fruit.

Its better than sex.

You must warm the doughnut for this to work...

i just figured out the reason you can't find jolt any more is because the red bull makes it seem like ginger beer.

hey, if you empty a packet of fleishmans yeast inside a girl, will they get a yeast infection?
just a thought i had while making cinimon rolls this morning.

Homer Simpson voice with the glassy, dreamy eyes: "Mmmmmmmmm.... dohnuts!"

I rarely will eat donuts, but when I do, what a treat. I also go for the classic glazed. Also like the variation on that called Crullers (that's what we called them back in New England).

For the purist, there is also a simple plain donut... but you need a good cup of black coffee to go with that. Dippin' allowed, of course.

Nothing beats a fresh cider donut from the farm down the road after a day outdoors, biking, climbing or whatever.

un pain de chocolat or if an acceptable patisserie is not accessible a chocolate covered Bavarian will do. Truth be told I've never met a donut I didn't like.

Voodoo doughnuts, home of the maple bacon bar and other crazyness. They used to have a Nyquil doughnut until the FDA told them "you can't put medicine in food!"

There was a good segment on Tony Bourdain's No Reservations where Chuck (Fight Club) Palahniuk tours Bourdain around stumptown and they visit voodoo:

In Seattle in the 90's there used to be a breakfast joint near UW that served the hugest, most delicious cinnamon rolls ever. Steaming hot with a 1/2 lb of butter. You could run all week just on those calories. MMMMMM-Good!

On the way to school in junior high I used to take my lunch money and buy 6 donuts to eat for lunch, its no wonder I felt like Hell eating that way back then!

but donuts are still one of my absolute favorites and I wish I could eliminate these unhealthy bombs from my diet. I do however, limit them to occasional treats!

Why are they so addictive????

BITD when I was but a wee lad growing up in the South - the icon of donutery was Krispy Kreme.

Before you go "YUK", this was well before KK went crazy and tried expanding around the universe only to end up making crappy donuts in the end.

Anyway, the deal was this - show up before 9am and for 25 cents you could walk away with a baker's dozen of hot gooey glazed donut holes!

Pop one in your mouth, use your tongue to slowly crush the goodness up against the roof of your mouth and then fly to heaven on the glazed wings of sugary love.
