Was just making coffee and had an idea: its always hard for me follow up with all climbing stores to make sure they are stocked on the guides... so what if i just asked friends of supertopo (maybe you?) to help out. In return, ill send you a free book if the store reorders.

it might work like this:

1) you are at a climbing store and you notice they are out of a supertopo book or they dont carry the book.

2) you send me a note about it to chris@supertopo.com

3) if you are the first person to email me that that store is out, and the store places and order for books withing the next week, I send you a free book.

And if you can find a new location to carry the books ill send you 3 free books.

thanks in advance for anyone who can help me out!

might be worth checking with the shop staff to see if they have back stock before emailing Chris, just in case they aren't really out. Some stores keep different books in different sections. Some keep books they have a lot of extra copies of stored in backstock as retail space is precious.

Hey Munge-

thanks for the support of the shop owners. And congrats on your El Cap trip. I am friends with Steve, he stopped in my shop yesterday to buy a new pair of Metolius gloves.

Hooblie said "grass roots will bury big box" yes you are right. Also shopping locally with your small shop, instead of buying on line. buy a Supertopo book at a local store and you are supporting both the shop, which in turn may have enough capital to re-invest in more product, and you are still supporting Chris as well! We all benefit, the shop owner and their employees, the supplier, and the customer.

All too often I offer to order an item for a customer and they reply "don't worry I can order it on-line". Please people support your locally owned shops. We want to be around to help you get the stuff you need. i am not just talking about climbing stores but everything we shop for. Support the people in your community and they will do the same for your business.

take care

What if you work at a retail store and make sure the books are in stock and peddle them like a madman? Can you take me up Sea of Dreams?

hmmm... I would gladly "big wall hitch hike" up the sea of dreams! (not exactly in hard aid mode at the moment.)

reminds me, someone should start a thread of what are the ultimate big wall hitch hiking stories? (hitch hiking being that you dont lead anything, you just show up with your portaledge, a lot of food, water, _ _ _ _ , and a few static ropes)

Hey Chris,

I was on the East Coast last week and there are some places that I have worked at and frequented when I was growing up back there that do not have any supertopos. I saw one Falcon Guide at The Backpacker in Columbia, SC.

I think it'd be worth a shot to get in touch with these businesses. However, SuperTopo is pretty local (but worldclass). Do you think there is enough demand on the E. Coast to exhaust a shipment or merit a shipment to an E. Coast outfitter?

Let me know if you think it's worth a shot and I'll send you the list that I compiled.

Cheers,

Steve

Hey Chris,

Ive been looking for a your How to Big Wall Climb for a few weeks now. Everywhere I've checked is sold out, so after some digging I found this offer. I've found a couple places that are sold out of your books. Hansen Mountaineering in Orem UT, and REI in Sandy UT are both sold out of all your books.

Hope this helps!
