I spoke to Jody a few days ago.
He hasn't looked at the taco in quite a while.
Good opportunity to rip on him, huh?

Jody has stirred so many pots through the years that this thread--pretty mild, actually--is hardly unfair.
I thought the link was pretty funny though.

I don't know Jody - too new (and don't care about the squabbles that comprise >2/3 of ST forums) - but the reductionist logic that goes in to this stuff is priceless.
Believer, non-believer, wherever you are along the spectrum, if THIS argument (and production value, sheesh) is what you use to further your arguments, then you are retarded, ipso-facto. Not wrong, mind you, but retarded... retarded to believe that you'll convince any intelligent person with the equivalent of kindergarten logic.
Then again, maybe my premise is flawed: maybe they're not going after the intelligent with this stuff...
Everybody in the western world (and beyond?) should read this book:
http://www.amazon.com/How-Read-Bible-Guide-Scripture/dp/0743235878/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1242403405&sr=8-1
It's a doorstop, yes, but a VERY well written one, especially given the subject matter. Written by James L. Kugel, I enjoyed this book academically and intellectually, and I am a non-believer in the judeo-christian God.

Peanut Butter! There you have it. I'm heading out to convert today, now which religion should I pick?
Zen: What is the sound of sh#t happening?
Taoism: Sh#t Happens.
Judaism: Why does this sh#t always happen to me?
Mormon: Sh#t happens again and again and again.
Unitarian: What is this sh#t?
Hinduism: This sh#t happened before.
Buddhism: When sh#t happens, is it really sh#t?
Catholicism: If sh#t happens, I deserve it.
Hare Krishna: Sh#t happens, Rama Rama Ding Ding.
Protestantism: Sh#t won't happen if I work harder.
Confucianism: Confucius say, "Sh#t Happens."
7th Day Adventist: Sh#t happens on Saturdays.
Jehovah's Witness: Knock, Knock, "Sh#t happens."
Rastafarianism: Let's smoke this sh#t.

I was wondering what happend to Uncle DOug.
Jody is a good guy, I can't see how you'd disagree even if you disagree with his PERSONAL opinions. He is a great guy. Any of you f*#ks who diss him for his personal opinions are weak.

Jody's views seem to come from sincerity.
His photos speak for themselves,
He has gone well out of his way to explain the rationale behind his views. Usually I still don't agree, but he has caused me to look at some things differently.
You don't have to accept the Jody paradigm, to respect the integrity of the man.
But it would be fun to have Jody comment on the views expressed in those videos, that can only be described, by arm chair geneticists such as my self, as, dead ends.
Come on Jody, you know you're among friends, here. Talk to us! I'll defend the right you have to say, anything, though I'll often argue the points...

He seems like a good enough guy, with some quasi severe psychological issues, which is dangerous as he has a lot of power. IF you're in his state it would be better to be his friend for sure, even if you were completely pretending.
Jaybro you even kealed Mofo! I admire that.

You don't have to listen to Jody, he ain't even here, why bash him?

One thing to be said for Jody that most tacoans can get behind; he is not into that "blue wall" crap. He is a righteous enough dude that he is comfortable in his own skin and if he thinks another cop is out of line HE SAYS SO.
And he's still on the job with 21 years (currently pulling absurdly long 12 hour shifts).

I think these religious threads are one of the most interesting aspects of ST.
Religion is the big question after all. Who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going?
Problem is that though we may claim to know god, we really can't; we can only believe; we can only argue for our faith. Why?
Because god (if it exists) chooses to remain a mystery.
The proof of that mystery is the countless belief systems that claim authenticity and yet contradict one another at the same time.
The mysterious unknowable nature of the question "is there a god?" serves a multitude of purposes for men insofar as it allows for political control through enforced dogmas. Historically the structure of political entities has been predicated on a religious imposition of one sort or the other.
The only escape from this is science in that it subordinates faith to reason. And though science sometimes employs faith in the structure of theory, ultimately science requires repeatable proof.
The peanut butter argument is transparent from the perspectives of reason and science.
There are more solid arguments for "creation." Peanut butter not producing life really embarrasses the creationist movement.

hey there say, all....
jody was one of the few folks that believe in my head injury awareness (and seizure awareness) books, and enough to even BUY some of them and try to help see if they can do some good....''
it is taking some of his well and hard earned bucks, to take a rist and see if the books can help someone some where.... '''
not many folks care to do that, for a perfect strangers, books... '
i was very thankful for that... and he knew "the walk" as one of his relatives went through this head injury stuff...
well, god bless...

I went shooting yesterday morning with Jody.
He brought a Calico 9mm, which was,... interesting (needs either a laser or a stock), and his off duty Glock .40
We had a fun time.
He is really good with those big mitts at shooting a big ole 10mm Smith revolver double action. (I almost always c*#k the damn thing.)
But he really shines on the rifle, good breathing and clean release (we won't talk about that little surprise he got the first time he felt for the 12 oz. Kidde trigger on my AMT 10/22 clone built up race gun. Suffice to say that the way to locate it, by feel, is from the side.)
So we got to talking about the taco, and I was truly amazed to hear about the lengths to which some of his detractors have gone.
You guys!!!!
It's one thing to talk about tolerance and another thing to practice it I guess.
He said he was going to check out this thread because he was pleased to hear that John Long stood up for him.
So after he left I put away the guns and the lead sled and fleeced up the brass, finding a few remnants from other shooters. In amongst them was some 9mm Largo.
Ho man, how did John get such a cool round named after him?
