One of you STers has put this image up in the past and I just love it. A Doberman on a precast concrete picnic table with a frisbee, in a state of high joy.

This is my dog Lucky. We had a tough day yesterday. First, he jumped the fence at my friend's house where I have been taking him each day since I sold my house and moved into the 5th wheel.
Thankfully I got a phone call only about 30 minutes after I dropped him off and was able to go get him quickly. i took him back to the 5th wheel since I didn't want him to jump over again. I had a longish day with a meeting after work. When I got home the first thing I saw was blood and lots of it. I checked Lucky everywhere, no cuts. I took him out for a walk and each of the five times he squatted only blood came out. I am not talking a little bit! I of course called my vet, closed. Called the nearest 24 vet, an hour away and took him right down. We were at the vet for 6 hours before all the blood work and x-rays were finished and the vet could make a decision about what was going on. She thinks he has an ulcer on his colon. He had to stay at the pet hospital overnight to be medicated. He was difficult to examine due to high anxiety and had to be sedated. I brought him home this afternoon. He is on a bland diet of rice and turkey burger until his stools return to normal and flagyl. He is also going to be on anti-anxiety medication until we get settled in Alaska and get into a routine and maybe even after. He has always been high strung and the vet says there is no reason for him to live the rest of his life that way.
Dogs gotta love them!

We are in the midst of our final on GI physiology right now (vet school). Frank blood, straining, if it comes up on the exam I'm totally gonna go with Flagyl as my treatment!!! ha ha.

I hope he feels better.

p.s.
we are ALWAYS told "NEVER NAME YOUR PET LUCKY"
(the majority of our case studies are totally named lucky!!)

Lucky is a lucky dog. He was rescued from the center median on the 10 freeway in Southern California as a young pup. My friend picked him up and was a terrible dog mom. I can't tell you how many phone calls I got saying he was lost and could I help her find him. I had another dog at the time and sometimes Lucky would wander down to visit us. One evening I hear a terrible commotion and I look outside to see two coyotes trying to tear him in half. Out the door I rush and luckily the coyotes let him go. One emergency vet visit and 39 stiches later I had another dog whom I named Lucky.
I will consider not naming any future dogs Lucky, as he really hasn't been all that lucky as your post implies.
