We absolutely SHOULD pay less taxes because we spend monies in wanton and wasteful ways. Were that not the case, then our money would go further and we all could pay less tax for same essential services which we all agree that we need.

Yeah see that's not really the case. The reason we have a debt is because we are spending MORE than we are paying. So if we spent less we could likely still be paying just as much in taxes. We could in fact spend a LOT less and pay MORE in taxes and STILL be running a deficit. I'm not worried though since I see that common sense people like yourself will vote for whomever pledges to rid our system of the waste and fix this insanity...

...oh wait you did and then one month later they passed an 860 billion dollar spending package with borrowed money. Take solace that they stood up on preventing the 9/11 rescuers from getting healthcare though. Bunch of government dependent leeches the lot of em.

The reason we have a debt is because we are spending MORE than we are paying.

500 - 1000 = -500

So if we spent less we could likely still be paying just as much in taxes.

500 - 900 = -400

We could in fact spend a LOT less and pay MORE in taxes and STILL be running a deficit.

600 - 700 = -100

Pretty simple, LEB. I fear for your patients.

I never understood why Michelangelo made the penises of his statues so small, either. Maybe he wanted us all to feel less intimidated by his art?

Maybe his member was small, so making other's members small did not offend his sensibilities.

I do hope you understand.

I understand perfectly. You make a statement, that is generally understood to be a racial putdown by most people in society. You are called on it, you state that it is NOT thought of as a racial putdown. I ask you to cite some reference that it is not, while citing a number of references that it is, and you CITE A DICTIONARY, but cannot cite anything else that supports your ACTUAL assertion. Hot air.

Let's take a better look at you. Generally, the way a person advocates, is the way that they, themselves, think.

In your anti-Muslim diatribes, you repeatedly cited you knew that American Muslims were all bad people in sympathy to terrorists, because they said nothing negative about the Muslims involved in 911. In spite of multiple posters pointing you to voluminous documentation that was not true, you continued to repeat that lie. Hmmmmm.

Earlier today, I posted a report about a young immigrant of color being beaten to death on the streets of your state, and the perps then being acquitted of serious crimes. At no time did you post anything about this in the last year in the discussions about immigrants and how they are treated. Obviously, based upon YOUR reasoning in the previous paragraph regarding Muslims,

1. You couldn't care less about people of color being beaten to death on the streets of your state.
2. You are in sympathy with letting the murderers off.
3. It has no relevance to a discussion of what happens to immigrants.

That is using YOUR reasoning. My experience is that when one uses a persons' reasoning process on their own behavior, it gives a fairly accurate picture, as they think of things the way they see things.

Question for LEB:

Lois, you recently stated how you thought it was good that the GOP obstructs the legislation that Obama is trying to pass.

Below is an excerpt from a recent interview with Obama. I'd like your opinion, are you proud of the way the Republicans you support responded in this case?

!~!~!~!

Jann Wenner: When you [Obama] came into office, you felt you would be able to work with the other side. When did you realize that the Republicans had abandoned any real effort to work with you and create bipartisan policy?

Obama: Well, I'll tell you that given the state of the economy during my transisiton, between my election and being swon in, our working assumption was that everybody was going to want to putll together, because there was a sizable chance that we could have a financial meltdown and the entire country could plunge into a depression. So we had to work very rapidly to try to create a combination of measures that would stop the fee-fall and cauterize the job loss.

The recovery package we shaped was put together on the theory that we shouldn't exclude any ideas on the basis of ideological predispositions, and so a third of of the Recovery Act were tax cuts. Now, they happened to be the most progressive tax cuts in history, very much geared toward middle-class families. There was not only a fairness rationale to that, but also an economic rationale - those were the folks who were most likely to spend the money and, hence, prop up demand at a time when the economy was really freezing up.

I still remember going over to the Republican caucus to meet with them and present our ideas, and to solicit ideas from them before we presented the final package. And on the way over, the caucus essentially released a statement that said, "We're going to all vote 'No' as a caucus." And this was before we'd even had the conversation. At that point we realized that we weren't going to get the kind of cooperation we'd anticipated. The strategy the Republicans were going to pursue was one of sitting on the side-lines, trying to gum up the works, based on the assumption that given the scope and size of the recovery, the economy probably wouldn't be very good, even in 2010, and that they were better off being able to assign the blame on us than work with us to try to solve the problem.

!~!~!~!

Your party, you happy about how they "worked" (and how they continue to do so) to make things "better?"
Still think they have your best interest in mind?

They insisted on inclusion when drafting the health care bill too and after they were included, they did their damndest to sabotage what was essentially a conservative proposal.

Why? To f*#k Obama and Reid and Pelosi for the sake of f*#king Obama and Reid and Pelosi.

What do you think Murdoch did to your brain Ksolem?

You guys crack me up. As if I listen to fox. The only tv I watch is NHL.

And to Hedge, who would like to think the Dems are saints, As I recall they all voted for the war and if you think they didn't know Colin Powell was lying you're deluded too.

Oh that's right. Obama said he did not vote for the war. Oh but that is because he wasn't in the Senate yet when that vote was taken. It would be interesting to know which way he would have actually voted.

And on the economy there is plenty of blame to go around as well.

This whole business of the two political parties being good vs evil (whichever dogma one chooses to prefer) is just an act to devide and conquer the public. Right now the Dems are busy spending like nuts and fighting overseas wars and keeping prisoners in Guantanamo and looking for ways to enhance the Patriot act and get the FCC in control of the internet.

Old man Samuelson had it figured out in 1927 and carved it in stone in Josh...

"MAN MADE CLIMATE CHANGE" -- THE WORLD'S BIGGEST, MOST EXPENSIVE HOAX -- FROM POWERLINE:

"Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past." That is what global warming alarmists in Great Britain were telling us just ten years ago:

Britain's winter ends tomorrow with further indications of a striking environmental change: snow is starting to disappear from our lives.

Sledges, snowmen, snowballs and the excitement of waking to find that the stuff has settled outside are all a rapidly diminishing part of Britain's culture, as warmer winters - which scientists are attributing to global climate change - produce not only fewer white Christmases, but fewer white Januaries and Februaries. ...

According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, within a few years winter snowfall will become "a very rare and exciting event".

"Children just aren't going to know what snow is," he said.

The Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia was, as you probably remember, home to the famous "Climategate" emails of 2009. As it turned out, the alarmists' farewell to snow in Great Britain was premature, as England is now experiencing another severe winter, with record low temperatures and near-blizzard conditions in some areas:

Forecasters warned that parts of Britain could see record low temperatures this week of -26C (-15F). Heathrow will experience lows of about -9C (16F) tonight and further snowfall is expected in the South East during the evening rush hour.

Motorists continued to struggle. The M25 was closed in both directions for about six hours while drivers on the M40 in Oxfordshire suffered severe delays.

Commuters were warned to expect treacherous conditions with thick ice and freezing fog today. Train passengers also face delays and cancellations, particularly in the North. Eurostar services between London and Paris have also been affected.

Snow and ice grounded the vast majority of flights in and out of Britain, with Heathrow the worst-affected airport.

British children (not to mention motorists) are in no danger of forgetting what snow is all about. Yesterday, traffic ground to a halt on the A3:

Winter is tough on drivers; this photo was taken earlier this month in Epsom:

But snow isn't all bad. Those British kids who were never supposed to know the joys of sledding, skating and, above all, snowball fighting are in luck:

It's fun to ridicule the warmists because they are so often wrong, but their errors are in fact significant: a scientific theory that implies predictions that turn out to be wrong, is false. A principal feature of climate hysteria is its proponents' unwillingness to be judged by the standards that govern real science.

Kris is no brain dead Fox News zombie. While we agree on all the important things in life, Kris and I rarely agree on politics. While I think his conclusions are wrong, he thinks for himself, and that's a rare thing from any side of the political spectrum. (OK, mostly from the right side!)

"Global warming", no wait, "Climate change" -- what an absolute crock. ClimateGate exposed this fraud to the world, as does the actual weather outside. Lets see -- who gains in this world by screwing America with climate-control regulations? Hmmmmmm -- the other countries that have to compete with America? Yeah, thats it. A massive redistribution of wealth and competitive edge to the socialist failed states who can't compete.

And the Dems are all for it.
