Okay, so I opened my mouth about a week before I had planned to and now Lynne and others are asking questions.

I am producing a plethora of slideshows/speaking engagements in the Portland, Oregon area over the next year. The line-up should make for a few wet dreams. As each event gets closer I will start a new thread with all the exact details.

For starters:
Glen Denny - June 18
Yosemite in the Sixties

John Bachar - July 16
Subject/title to be announced

John Long & Dean Fidelman (Largo & Bullwinkle for those who live on another planet) – August 27
Reading and photos from the new Stonemasters book

Royal Robbins – September 24
Subject/title to be announced

That should whet your appetite a bit, eh? I have five more in the funnel and will pre-announce as soon as things firm up.

All shows will be at Portland Community College-Sylvania Campus.
All shows will start SHARP at 7:00 PM (Sorry, I'm British so we insist on 7:00 meaning 7:00)
Tickets will be $12
Net proceeds will go to the Yosemite Climbing Association-cuz I love what Ken does! We will also be (voluntary) collecting canned food for the local food bank.
All shows will have schwagg, raffles of toys for vertical playtime, presenter book/poster signings, T-shirts that only a climber could love and more!

Okay, that's the overview. In about three-four weeks I will post final details for Glen Denny's show and details for other shows will follow regularly.

This theatre holds 300 and I am pretty sure these events will sell out. Keep your eye tuned to SuperTopo to know the lastest.

Any questions... simon(at)vershke(dot)com

Lynne,

I always welcome e-mail! Not sure what I can offer about SoCal as I am in Oregon. But write away!

Biotch, (too early to figure out all those symbols...)

I hadn't planned on announcing quite yet so I haven't launched the site with info. I am on the road (Monument Valley today!) but when I get back to my Mac I'll get a page or two of info out there.

Hankster, As for a road show... I am running these in Portland, Oregon. There are a couple of presenters who might like a more complete show and I'll speak to them to see if we can make the logistics/financials work. It's a great idea...

EDIT: Tiki-jer, Fresno would make a lot of sense, obviously. Looks like I might need to take this road show idea more seriously! Great, just what I need; more time on the computer planning and less time slackin' off

Anyone who has content that will pull a crowd should contact me and we can discuss. Keep in mind that it looks like November and December shows are close to confirmed.

Well... there are a few names I have not announced yet.

Let's just say that if I can keep the momentum up and the ST crowd (and the Portland crowd for local shows) continues to be supportive, the list is endless.

Lynne, the Yosemite show is John Long and Dean Fidelman (Largo & Bullwinkle) showing slides and telling tall tales from the new Stonemasters book.

John believes he has a date in Mammoth that weekend but I spoke with hi must a couple of days ago and he made it sound not quite 100%. I have a message in to him to verify. I am not involved with that show.

Kletterhund... Yes, I will make the raffle tickets available at each show!

Mark... My 90 year old British father is looking over my shoulder as I type this! Today is his birthday and I asked him to arrive at 5:30. He arrived at... 5:30.
