It may be simpler if shirts are ordered from Simon (Vershke), and paid for directly, but donations to the YCA are made to it. The YCA loses a few percent on transaction fees for donations and memberships, but it would be less work for Simon, plus the YCA gets the needed information directly. The only nuisance is that it divides the purchasers' transactions into one for shirt(s), another for YCA membership & donations.

This is the "I already made a donation to YCA, (thanks for preserving it Ken) check is in the mail to the group" bump!
As soon as I polish off the wine and walk the dogs down to the mailbox that is:-)

This image was posted by Todd Gordon on the Cathedral Peak appreciation thread recently... looks like these guys were the inspiration for the YCA logo!

Spread the word about the YCA shirts!Only about three weeks left to order...

Fatrad is absolutely correct that donations (not shirt purchases) made to the YCA are tax deductible since they are a 501(c).

It is also true that PP takes about 6% (its a percentage plus a fixed fee but it works out to about 6% for the shirts.) That is why I am taking a chance and accepting checks instead of credit cards for the shirts. I can trust you all, right? I mean... you're climbers!

Thank you Simon for putting this together. I also want to thank everyone that is supporting YCA. It is true that a donation straight to YCA is tax deductible. By mailing a check directly to YCA it ensures that YCA receives the whole donation.

This is what inspired the logo. As someone mentioned, why is the follower pulling on the rope? It bugs me too. I don't have the graphic skills to correct it. If someone does and would like to fix it, I can send a Nose reunion cancellation stamp or two for your effort. Email me if you are interested and I can send the original files.

Thanks,

Ken

Okay, the call is out! Who wants to fix the climbers inside the YCA logo?
I may take a stab at it if time allows, but one thing to keep in mind, if we want the "corrected" logo to appear on the shirts I need the finished (approved by Ken, etc.) artwork by April 1 otherwise the existing artwork will be used on the front of the shirt.

I think (please correct me if I am wrong) what Ken is looking for is NOT a rework of the entire logo, just changing the climbers portrayal so that us climbers don't grimace.

You are right Simon.I would like the logo to look as close to the original as possible so that it is virtually indistinguishable as possible. I think it is a matter of reworking the rope without changing anything else. The belayer's hand has the wrong end for the hip belay and the climber has the rope in their hand.

Time for my daily thanks and bump...

Thanks to Michael Kennedy and Roy Smith! Way to support the YCA!

Anybody got an old (1970's) Whillan's Pack they don't want? I am on a mission to find one since mine is... well, it's not here.
